Be a Barrier Breaker!

Image
“...I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world...” (John 17:14) Be a Barrier Breaker The Scripture speaks of how we are in the world, but we are not of the world. You may be in a limited environment, but you don’t have to be of it. Don’t let that environment get in you. If you see struggle, lack, and poverty long enough, your mind can become conditioned to thinking, This is who I am. I’ll never have enough. No, that’s where you are, that’s not who you are. That may be what’s been normal. The good news is, you’re a barrier breaker. Some people try to put you in a box. They’ll tell you such things as, “You’ll never afford a nice house, never get well, never meet the right person.” Because their thinking is limited, they’ll try to put their limitations on you. You have to put your foot down and say, “I refuse to be mediocre because people around me are mediocre. I am a barrier breaker. I’m going to set a new stan

Weave a Pattern of Gratitude!

Image
Weave a Pattern of Gratitude “ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”  (Psalm 50:23) Isn’t it nice when people express gratitude to you and perhaps, even praise you for something you have done for them? Gratitude and praise strengthen our relationships. In the same way, our relationship with God is strengthened as we express our gratitude and praise to him. I am working at weaving a pattern of expressing gratitude and praise to God throughout all areas of my life. Even when things aren’t going right, I look for something in my daily experience to thank God for. “ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. ” (Psalm 69:30) If you have not been practicing praise and gratitude, why not start now, and see what happens? “ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable serv

More than Enough!

Image
“...You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey...” (Leviticus 20:24) More than Enough The Israelites had been in slavery for hundreds of years. That was the land of barely enough. They were just surviving, barely making it through. One day God brought them out of slavery and took them into the desert, the land of just enough. Their needs were supplied, but nothing extra. God eventually took them into the Promised Land, the land of more than enough. The food and supplies were plenteous. It’s called “the land flowing with milk and honey.” Flowing means it didn’t stop. Its abundance never ran out. That’s where God is taking you. You may be in the land of barely enough or just enough right now. Don’t worry. God hasn’t forgotten about you. He is saying, “Those are seasons. Don’t put your stakes down. You’re passing through.” God has a Promised Land for you. He has a place of abundance, of more than enough, where it’s flowing with

Are You Focused on the Son?

Image
Are You Focused on the Son? “ I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. ” (Psalm 16:8) When you drive a vehicle, you keep your eyes focused on the road. Pilots of aircraft keep their eyes focused on their instrument panels, particularly in inclement weather. Focus is such a critical factor as we navigate through life. If we focus on the wrong values, we will crash. But, like the Psalmist, when we keep our eyes on the Lord, we will not be shaken. For the practitioner of Kingdom Of God,  Christ  is the goal of life—pleasing him, doing his will, being transformed into his likeness, and ultimately, being with him in heaven in a glorified state. “ Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure ” (Psalm 16:5). Have you ever held a penny close to your eye and tried to gaze heavenward? The penny blocks out the sun. In the same manner, when we get consumed with the minutia of life, our vision gets blocked. God wants us to keep on miss

Saved to Do Good Works!

Image
Saved to Do Good Works “… Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. ” (Titus 2:14) Good works do not save us. I want to be very clear about this. We are not saved “ by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ” (Titus 3:5–7) The work of salvation has been done by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. We are justified or made acceptable to God when we receive, as a  gift , the salvation he has provided through Christ. We trust in him alone for our salvation. However, we are saved to  do  the good works he has appointed for us to do. “ This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that t

Does Your Conduct Contradict or Confirm Your Faith in God?

Image
Does Your Conduct Contradict or Confirm Your Faith in God? “… Not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. ” (Titus 2:10) Christianity is not a list of  do s and  don’t s or an intellectual belief in the tenets of the Christian faith. True faith is having a  personal relationship  with God through the person of Jesus Christ. We have been born again to a living hope, a relationship with the risen Savior who lives in and through the life of each believer. That being the case, Scripture exhorts us to be good examples of the relationship we proclaim: “ Let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel… ” (Philippians 1:27) If we are to be effective representatives of Christianity, our conduct cannot contradict what we say we believe in. We live

Stay Close to the Right People!

Image
“...The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age...” (Ruth 4:14–15) Stay Close to the Right People Naomi lost her husband in death, and then both her sons died as well. She was so discouraged that she didn’t think she could go on. She had been full of joy and sweetness, but now she was bitter. She even changed her name from Naomi, which means “my joy,” to Mara, which means “bitter.” She was saying, “Call me bitter.” But her friends refused and kept calling her Naomi. She was trying to stay in defeat, but they said, “No, you’re coming into victory,” and eventually she did. If you have been through disappointments and loss, you need people around you who will remind you about who you are—not people who will get bitter with you and agree with the defeat. Stay close to people who will call you blessed and victorious. You want people

What is Written on the Tablet of Your Heart?

Image
What is Written on the Tablet of Your Heart? “ Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, and so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man. ” (Proverbs 3:3–4) Have you ever thought about what is written on the tablet of your heart? In Kingdom of God, we stress the importance of  soaking our heart  in the Word of God. The heart is like a sponge; it soaks up whatever is around it, and that becomes the treasure of our heart. If the water is dirty, then the treasure is dirty. If the water is clear and pure, then the treasure of the heart will be pure and clear. The Word confirms this: “ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. ” (Luke 6:45) Whatever this “abundance of the heart” is will manifest itself in my life. People will be able to tell what is in my heart.

Your Set Time!

Image
“...But you, LORD, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come...” (Psalm 102:12–13) Your Set Time In the first eleven verses of Psalm 102, the psalmist goes into great detail listing all his troubles, telling how miserable he is. Just when you think he’s ready to give up, he wrote today’s Scripture. In the midst of his sad song, he recognized that God was still on the throne, and he knew there was a set time for favor in his future. God was saying to His people, “Don’t worry, things are about to change. You’ve come into your set time of favor. I will arise and have compassion.” In your set time of favor, God will step in against your enemies and scatter them. When He arises, sickness will be defeated, addictions will be broken, and lack, poverty, and struggle will come to an end. He’s going before you clearing the path where you couldn’t go before, pushi

What Happens When We Ask for God’s Favor!

Image
What Happens When We Ask for God’s Favor “ May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands. ” (Psalm 90:17) Our relationship with God through Christ means life, favor, and reward! We all want to experience a full and meaningful life. The Scripture tells us we can experience the favor of God if we establish the right kind of relationship with him. The favor of God is available to us. He also tells us about rewards that can come from such a relationship. Those of us who practice Kingdom Of God are converting our perishable  time, talent, and treasure  into the imperishable values of the Kingdom. We have discovered this great secret of the kingdom. We have found life, favor, and reward already. Futhermore, we are anticipating much more in the life to come. Therefore, we pray that the favor of God will rest on us. Power belongs to God. He is the one who can change circumstances. He is the one who can open doors. He i

When God is Silent!

Image
“...For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow...” (James 1:3) When God is Silent Sometimes when we’re being tested by discouragement, it seems God is silent. We pray and don’t hear anything. We read the Scripture and still come away feeling as though God is a million miles away. It’s easy to think something must be wrong. But remember, this is a test. You have to pass the test of being faithful where you are. Keep stretching, praying, and believing. The next step is coming—an increase step, a favor step, a healing step, a breakthrough step. When God is silent, don’t assume He’s left you or is mad at you. He is right there with you during the test. His silence is a sign that He has great confidence in you and He has prepared you, and now He is watching to see if you have learned. He knows you will come through the test victoriously or He would not have permitted you to be tested. Keep being your best with what you have. A Prayer for Today Father, t

The Most Powerful Relationship Possible!

Image
The Most Powerful Relationship Possible “ Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. ” (Revelation 3:20) In Kingdom of God, we focus on our  relationship with God . This verse from Revelation assures us that Jesus Christ will come into our life, just like we would have a friend over for dinner. And yet, our relationship with Jesus is even more powerful than human friendships: “ Jesus replied, ‘All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.’  ” (John 14:23) You can’t get much more intimate than making your home with someone! Not only is Jesus with us individually, but he is with us when we are gathered together as believers. “ For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. ” (Matthew 18:20) One reason Jesus wants us to have a relationship with him is so we can also have a proper relationship w

See, I Am Doing a New Thing!

Image
See, I Am Doing a New Thing “ Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. ” (Isaiah 43:18–19) A friend of mine has stated that things come to pass, but not to stay. God is always moving and creating. We definitely live in a world of change! We are counseled not to dwell in the past. We are to put God in remembrance. I call this the “God Factor.” God is always doing something new – giving us new opportunities, opening doors, closing doors, and intervening in our circumstances. The question is:  Will we recognize and take proper advantage of these “new things [that] spring forth?” This passage also reflects another great truth. We serve the God of provision. He makes the road in the wilderness for us to follow, and he provides the rivers in the desert to give us drink or to meet our needs along the way. For me, one of

You’re Going to Shine!

Image
“...When the LORD saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive, but Rachel remained childless...” (Genesis 29:31) You’re Going to Shine In today’s Scripture Leah and her sister, Rachel, were both married to Jacob. Rachel was more beautiful, so Jacob didn’t give Leah much time and attention. I’m sure she felt like she was inferior, at a disadvantage, not good enough. That doesn’t go unnoticed. God sees every injustice, every wrong, every tear. Leah went on to have four sons before Rachel had one. Having a son in those days was a big deal. God was saying, “Leah, I’m giving you sons who’ll cause Jacob to notice you.” You may feel like someone else got all the good breaks, good childhood, good looks, good personality. Don’t worry, your time is coming. God has some advantages for you that will cause you to stand out. You’re not going to always live in the shadow of somebody more talented, more beautiful, more successful. God’s going to cause you to shine. You’re going to excel, y

How to Become a Friend of God!

Image
How to Become a Friend of God “ The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. ” (Psalm 25:14) What a majestic promise! God will confide in those who fear or respect him in the proper way. Because of our relationship with him, we are placed in a position where he can, subject to his sovereign will, bless and favor us. There is no better friend a person can have than Almighty God! The secret of this relationship is to abide in Christ. “ Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me ” (John 15:4). In John 14:23, Jesus tells us that he and the Father will make their home with us if we love and obey his commandments. “ Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. ’” When we cultivate relationships with people, we get to know them and they get to know us. Our re

Faith: More Valuable than Gold!

Image
Faith: More Valuable than Gold “… The genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ… ” (1 Peter 1:7) This revelation of Scripture is in direct opposition to what the world says. In Kingdom of God, we agree with this statement of truth. We are concerned with converting our perishable time, talent, and treasure into the imperishable values of advancing the kingdom of God, which will last forever! Think about gold or money. What is the most it can do? Worldly wealth can buy perishable things such as power, pleasure, and more stuff. From an eternal point of view, wealth is valuable only if we “convert it” into the imperishable, such as winning friends for eternity by helping people trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior or meeting their physical and material needs in his name. Now think about what faith can “buy.” When we exercise faith by

Set Your Mind on the Imperishable!

Image
Set Your Mind on the Imperishable “ If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. ” (Colossians 3:1–4) We should take the words of Jesus to heart when he tells us to build up treasures for ourselves in heaven. Treasure in this world ultimately perishes. In addition, thieves and rust can make what we treasure here disappear. The Psalmist reflects on the fact he has nothing else in heaven other than the Lord. Any stuff or treasure we have in this world will be left behind unless we have “converted it” into the imperishable by investing it in the kingdom. We can tell where our treasure is by what we are giving our heart to. Jesus says, “ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ” (Matthew 6:21) Today

How Great is His Goodness!

Image
“...How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world...” (Psalm 31:19) How Great is His Goodness King David said, “What would have happened to me if I had not believed to see the goodness of God?” I wonder how many blessings we’re missing out on, how much favor, how much increase we’re not seeing simply because we’re not expecting it. We’re not releasing our faith. Right now there are blessings that have your name on them. There is promotion stored up, healing stored up, vindication stored up, a house stored up. God has already destined them to be yours. But if you think, I’ll never get married. I’ll never pay my house off. I’ve made too many mistakes. God would never bless me, that is going to keep you from God’s best. Why don’t you try a different approach and say, “God, I believe You have some surprises in my future. I believe I’ll see Your goodness in a new way.” When

How to Overcome the Power of ‘Me, Myself, and I’!

Image
How to Overcome the Power of ‘Me, Myself, and I’ “ For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands. ” (Psalm 92:4) The work of God enables us to live the Christian life. We must soak our heart in that revelation! God has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints. He is the one who has delivered us from the evil one and the kingdom of darkness. Finally, he has transferred us into the kingdom of his Son where we now are governed by the law of faith (the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus), which has delivered us from the law of sin and death. All of the above are the work of God… a gift of God to us. When we finally understand and apply these truths, they make us very glad! The impact on our everyday living is transformative when we understand and avail ourselves of  Sonpower  – the power of the Holy Spirit. We now live by the Spirit, walking under his control. When we live by the Spirit we do not seek to fulfill the sinfu

The “I Don’t Understand It” File!

Image
“...Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own...” (Proverbs 3:5) The “I Don’t Understand It” File Sometimes it’s best to leave things alone. As long as you’re probing around your hurts and disappointments, trying to figure out why something happened, you’re never going to heal. You have to let it go and say, “God, I don’t understand it, but I’m not going to keep trying to figure it out. I know that You wouldn’t allow it if You couldn’t bring good out of it, so I’m going to leave it with You.” We should have a file in our thinking called “I Don’t Understand It.” When things come up that don’t make sense and you can’t find an answer, instead of trying to figure it out, getting confused and frustrated, just put it in your “I Don’t Understand It” file and move forward. If you make the mistake of going through life trying to figure out why something bad happened, why something didn’t work out, why your prayer wasn’t answered, that’s going to poi

The Awesomeness of God’s Works!

Image
The Awesomeness of God’s Works “ O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. ” (Psalm 92:5) Throughout Scripture, the works of God are declared AWESOME.  Sonpower  enables us to experience the great working of God in our everyday living. The finger of God touches every activity in the life of the believer who is submissive to his will. The Hebrew people experienced this for themselves. “ For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them. ” (Psalm 44:3) “ He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. ” (Psalm 103:7) Who knows what God may be willing to do through the righteous person who lives in conformance with his will? When God shines with favor on a person’s life, he can do more than we can ask, think or imagine. Success in living is in the hand of God to give! “For I am the Lord, I do not change;
