Kairos Moments!

Image
I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2 Kairos Moments In today’s Scripture, the Greek word used for “time” is not “chronos,” which means ordinary time—minutes, hours, and days. The word used is “kairos,” which means an opportune moment, a passing instant where an opening appears. It has to do with an appointed time, a season of favor. God has already ordained these kairos moments when you come into opportunities that seem over your head. You’ll be tempted to shrink back, but God wouldn’t have put you there if you couldn’t do it. It’s a season of favor. Suddenly, you know you can overcome an addiction, you know you can beat that depression, you know lack and struggle are not your destiny. You feel faith rising. You’ve stepped into a kairos moment—a special time that God has strategically designed for you to come up higher. That’s why His favor is on you in a new way. If you step into it, doors are going to open that you couldn’t open

Shine Like the Sun!

Image
Shine Like the Sun Scripture: Colossians 3:3 “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”   I once heard a preacher say, “Whatever you have will blow off on the way up or burn up on the way down.” There is truth in that statement. When you die and go to heaven, the cares and things of this world will have no impact whatsoever. That should make a big impact on us! The Psalmist realized this when he wrote,  “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  (Psalm 73:25–26) Our inheritance is Jesus Christ. Someday we will be just like him.  “As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.”  (Psalm 17:15) Not only will we be satisfied, but we also will be ecstatic! “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ

Good to All!

Image
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:10 Good to All Jesus said that people will know true believers by our love for others, not by how many Scriptures we quote or the Christian bumper stickers on our car. This world does not need to hear another sermon nearly as much as it needs to see us being good to people—helping others, meeting needs, and blessing them with our words and actions. We were created to make a difference in the lives of others through our love for them. True love is seen in our actions—giving our time, our money, an encouraging word. When you show love, you are showing God to the world. You’re never more like God than when you take time to do something for someone else. People are watching you, and one of the best witnesses you can have is simply by being good to people. The Scripture says to be on the lookout for those you can bless. Don’t miss the miracle of the momen

Our Unlimited Potential!

Image
Our Unlimited Potential Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:24 “But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”   If we could only comprehend what the Scripture says about our relationship with Jesus Christ, then our faith potentially would be greatly strengthened. The power and the wisdom of God literally reside on the inside of us. If we believe this and meditate on it, who knows what the Holy Spirit may choose to reveal to us,  “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  (Colossians 2:3) In fact, from a human standpoint, they are unsearchable except by revelation from the Spirit of God.  “These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”  (1 Corinthians 2:10) “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”  (Ephesians 3:8, ESV)  “But we ought always to give thanks

Anointed but Not Appointed!

Image
Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.” 1 Samuel 16:19 Anointed but Not Appointed After David was anointed to be the next king of Israel, he didn’t go to the palace. He went back to caring for his father’s sheep. He was anointed before he was appointed. Doing what seemed like a menial job, he kept being his best and proved to God his faithfulness. When King Saul needed someone to play soothing music for his bouts of depression, someone recommended David as an excellent musician. For David, who had been discounted, overlooked, and forgotten, promotion came calling his name. He was suddenly working in the palace for the king. He didn’t make it happen; the king sent for him. As with David, you have the anointing, the promise, the calling, but you won’t go straight to the throne. How you respond when you’re anointed but not appointed will determine whether you make it to the palace. You have to be your best right where you are.

True Faith in Christ!

Image
True Faith in Christ Scripture: Romans 4:20–21, Hebrews 11:6 “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”   “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Abraham was a man who had true faith in God. True faith includes belief, conviction, dependence in the right object or person, and follow through with action consistent with the conviction. James said,  “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”  (James 2:17) Intellectual belief alone is not true faith. Faith in Christ and in what he has done on the cross includes conviction and dependence in him alone, which ultimately produces works through the believer. Jesus said,  “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground

PRAY!

Image
Gracious God, keep me close to you. Under your watchful eye, I am in your loving care and you provide for my daily needs. Open my eyes and heart to those around me who are hurting and in need. As you have blessed me, may I be a channel of your blessings to someone today. Amen.

Rooted in the Soil of God’s Love!

Image
Rooted in the Soil of God’s Love “… that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love… ” (Ephesians 3:16–17) This wonderful passage of Scripture should be read in conjunction with several of the surrounding verses to gain their full impact. The Holy Spirit is the great engine of power and capacity, enabling us to successfully fulfill the mission God has given us. We can meet the challenges in life as we allow the Spirit to strengthen us with his power in our inner being. This is accomplished by the process of  SOAK, SOW, and FLOW  with the Word and the Spirit of God. In fact, it is impossible to be a  CONVERTERLATOR  without the Holy Spirit working in our inner person. He cleanses us and strengthens us so Christ himself can live in our heart by faith. His Word nourishes us, rooting us in the soil of his love.

Be Alert!

Image
Be Alert! “ Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ” (1 Peter 1:13) Scripture warns us to be alert and watchful. We live in a spiritual war zone and battle a strong adversary. “ Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. ” (1 Peter 5:8) The chief CONSUMERLATOR is out to steal, destroy, and kill our efforts to convert the perishable into the imperishable values of heaven. The Lord can return at any moment. He tells us to be watchful and waiting. We need to heed these words from Ephesians: “… for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”  (Ephesians 5:14) Christ needs to shine on our efforts if we are to experience his blessing. We also want to avoid losing what we have gained in our work for the Lo

Gracious God, as you watch over me each day, I sense your loving arms enfolding me. May I continue to grow in knowledge of you, trusting that you are guiding me in the way of your truth. Amen.

When You Praise!

Image
Let the high praises of God be in their mouth… Psalm 149:6 When You Praise David showed us that sometimes all you need to defeat the enemy is a small stone. The same is true of praise; sometimes all you need is your praise. Praise is a weapon. All through Scripture, you see how praise breaks chains, praise confuses the enemy, and praise makes you powerful. When you have praise coming out of your mouth, you are unstoppable. The enemy cannot keep a praiser down. Just think of Paul and Silas in Acts 16. As they sang praises at midnight, prison doors flung open and shackles fell off. Your praise may not seem like much, but when you praise, angels go to work. When you praise, the Creator of the universe begins to change things in your favor. Most of the battles we fight are not physical; they’re spiritual. Praise is a powerful weapon. When you praise in the time of trouble, it’s even more effective, because the enemy expects you to be negative and complaining. Praise will cause you to def

The Triple Three Approach to Battling Life’s Challenges!

Image
The Triple Three Approach to  Battling Life’s Challenges “ Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. ” (Micah 7:8) How comforting these words are when we sit in the darkness of circumstances that threaten to overpower us. Jesus Christ, the light of the world, shows us the way to life and immortality. The Psalmist also discovered where to look when difficulty came: “ Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. ” (Psalm 112:4) We have what I call the TRIPLE THREE APPROACH, outlined in 2 Thessalonians, the third chapter. First, he promises to strengthen and protect us: “ But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. ” (2 Thessalonians 3:3) Second, he directs us to focus on Christ, not on the problem. Focusing on the problem drains life from us, whereas Christ gives us power and peace: “ May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s l

Connect the Dots!

Image
Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” John 13:7 Connect the Dots On the night before Jesus was crucified, He told His disciples that His hour had come, and He was going to be betrayed and crucified. In today’s Scripture, He told them, in effect, “You’re going to walk through some difficult things in the days to come that you don’t understand. You will feel lonely, confused, and afraid. You won’t understand it, but you will later.” The resurrection would connect all the dots. As with these disciples, there will be difficulties you don’t understand. A friend walks out of your relationship, the company downsizes and lets you go, or the sickness hits. But Jesus never said, “You’re going to understand everything. Let Me show you My exact plan for you. It all makes sense.” He does say He’s ordering all your steps. He promises that all things work together for your good. Stay in faith when it doesn’t make sense. You’re on the verge of seeing

Understanding God’s Will!

Image
Understanding God’s Will “ Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. ” (Ephesians 5:17) We need to know what the will of God is in order to make sure we’re living in harmony with his plan. We know the time is short. The stakes are high, with eternity staring us in the face. Are we working to convert the perishable elements of our lives into the imperishable values of the kingdom of God? God needs us to be clean vessels so he can live and work through us: “ For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality. ” (1 Thessalonians 4:3) “ Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. ” (2 Timothy 2:21) Next, we need to cultivate our relationship with him: “ Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. ” (Job 22:21) The blessing of God follows obedience t

Special Strength!

Image
That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 Special Strength We all have times in life when we get weary and don’t feel like we can go on. We’ve prayed, and we’ve believed, but nothing has changed. Now the weight of what we’re facing has left us exhausted. The good news is that God doesn’t expect you to be strong all the time. He doesn’t fault you for feeling weak and say, “What’s wrong with you? Where’s your faith?” Today’s Scripture makes it clear that when you feel overwhelmed and weak, Christ comes in with power and gives you special strength. Strength that you didn’t get on your own. Strength to move forward when you should be stuck, strength to overcome the addiction, strength to outlast the opposition. It’s the hand of God lifting you, empowering you, reenergizing you, causing you to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint. There’s
