Unmovable!

Image
Unmovable “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear." Hebrews 12:28 Paul said, “having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord” (Ephesians 2:20, 21). The foundation of the church is secure, Jesus said, “Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). The gates of hell cannot shake the kingdom of God. We have seen the damage done by earthquakes around the world. Buildings and highways crumble like dust in the wind or sand in the sea. The foundation of a building determines its strength. Jesus is the church’s foundation. He cannot fall. Your confidence in your foundation has been tested and proven, but what you build on top will determin

Send Out the Light!

Image
Send Out the Light “ Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. ” (Psalm 43:3) God empowers those he is using to accomplish his purposes in this world. As  Kingdom  of God thinkers, we know that Christ is the light of the world, the source of life, and the fountain of life where we must spend time  soaking our hearts  in his presence. This investment of time is needed if we are going to be effective as fragile vessels of clay to carry the light of the gospel into this lost world. Our life, our confidence, and our sufficiency are sourced in Christ. All of the promises of God find their  yes  in Jesus Christ. Christ-empowered light can only shine through us as we allow and trust the power of the cross to suppress the self-life that is so eager to manifest itself. Today, ask yourself: Am I trusting in Christ to live his life through me instead of looking to my own self-effort to do so?

Join the Adventure!

Join the Adventure! “ I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ” (Galatians 2:20) God has made provision for Christ to live his life in us as we allow him to overcome the desires of our flesh and overcome the lures of the world. Have you ever asked yourself why he has done this? God has made this provision so Christ can be formed in us. Busy Doing What?

Image
Busy Doing What? “There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”” (1 Kings 19:9) Have you ever been in a place and asked yourself, “What am I doing here?” For the Kingdom of God  thinker, this is a very important question. As I make choices daily, this question is in the back of my mind. I need to evaluate what kind of a “giver” I will be during the time I have left in this world. The ways in which I decide to spend the time God has given me will determine how much of my activity will echo into eternity. The spending of my treasure, however great or small, will determine if I have anything stored in the “First National Bank of Heaven.” By soaking our heart in the Word of God and feeding our soul with the spiritual M and Ms we find in the Word, we will discover what is important to God. He will reveal his will, plan, and purpose for our life as we focus on him and his values. His desires will become our des

Lord Jesus, you have called us to be witnesses to preach the Good News. Empower me with your Holy Spirit to bear witness to your love and proclaim with boldness the message of your salvation. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

Connect with Others’ Favor!

Image
Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance. (Proverbs 1:5) Connect with Others’ Favor When we see people who are more successful and more blessed than us, it’s easy to get jealous, try to compete, discredit them, and talk about what they’re doing wrong and how they’re not talented. Here’s a key: If you can’t celebrate other people’s success, you will never get to where they are. If you get jealous and try to outperform them, or if you’re intimidated by them, you’ll get stuck. It’s a test. God brings these favor connections across our path. Are you secure enough in who you are to honor them, to learn from them, to cheer them on, or will your pride keep you from connecting with their favor? Don’t be small-minded. Swallow your pride and sow respect into that supervisor or colleague who’s really talented. God put them there as a favor connection. As you connect to them, new doors and new levels will open for you. New talents will come out. The

Ride the Wave of the Holy Spirit!

Image
Ride the Wave of the Holy Spirit “…the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”  (Galatians 6:8) As we practice the  principles of Kingdom  of God, we discover and experience the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live the Christian life. We  soak our heart  in the Word of God and learn how to  sow to the Spirit  so he can impart his life to us. One of the major ways we sow to the Spirit is to pray to the Lord verses of Scripture we have memorized and meditated on. As we allow our heart to delight in the precious morsels we glean from the Word, the power of the Spirit cleanses and empowers us for our daily tasks. We  flow with the Spirit  on the avenues of life as he navigates our way through the day’s activity. Think about the surfer who looks for the next great wave to ride. The rider focuses all attention on the movement of the waters to determine when, where, and how to jump on the board to catch the best wave. Look for where the Spirit is moving,

Take Your Mountain!

Image
“Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day…” (Joshua 14:12) Take Your Mountain When Caleb was eighty-five years old, forty years after the negative report of the other ten spies had kept him and the Israelites out of the Promised Land, he wasn’t sitting around feeling sorry for himself. No, he went back to the same mountain where three giants still lived, the place where the others had refused to go in, and he said, “Give me this mountain that God promised me. Give me the dream that’s been burning in me for all these years.” Have you allowed any dreams to get buried in you? At one time you thought you could do something great, but you had some bad breaks. You have a good excuse to settle; nobody would blame you if you did. But that dream is still alive. God is saying to you what he said to Caleb, “Go back and try again. This is your time. Your destiny is calling out to you. Stir up your gifts, and go after what I put in your heart.” A Prayer for Today “

Are You Following a Mirage?

Image
Are You Following a Mirage? “Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life….”  (John 6:27) The self-life is a dead end. Unfortunately, most people concentrate on how they can meet their own desires and needs and give little thought to their own eternal destinies or the eternal destinies of others. When we labor for the food that endures to eternal life, we become more heavenly minded and earthly sensitive. We realize we have been left in this world to serve the interests of God. We begin to join others who are in the process of bringing their lives into conformance with God’s will. As we do this, God empowers us to serve him and others, bringing us a life of fulfillment. Following the self-life and the pursuit of more and more never satisfies one for long. It is a mirage that ultimately leads to self-destruction. Paul said, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Phil. 1:21). He was a follower of Jesus Christ. Today, ask yoursel

Nothing Happens Randomly!

Image
…with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever. (Psalm 136:12) Nothing Happens Randomly When you’re tempted to get discouraged by the way your life is going, remember that you’re not doing life on your own. God is behind the scenes orchestrating your life. God’s strong hand and outstretched arm are not limited by the natural; He’s supernatural. You can’t see Him, but He’s behind the scenes, and He controls the universe. He’s working all things according to His will and for your good. When God is ready to promote you, He doesn’t check with your supervisor. He opens the door. He controls what breaks come your way. Don’t lose sleep over your boss or the people who are against you. His hand is over them. Don’t get discouraged about your finances. He’s about to bring promotion, opportunity, and increase that you didn’t see coming. What are you worrying about? The Most High God is maneuvering things in your favor. Live from a place of peace, knowing that nothing happens

Don’t Park Here!!

Image
Don’t Park Here! “.. . But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. ” (Philippians 3:13-14) I entered a parking lot and spotted a sign in front of a couple of parking spaces that said, “DON’T PARK HERE! I got the message. I moved on. This is what God wants us to do in our everyday life. We are to learn from the past, move on, and strain to meet the goals and objectives he has for us. Many people make the mistake of parking in front of their failures and/or disappointments. To do so is crippling. Instead of parking in front of our failures, we must accept the fact that our circumstances and relationships are always in a state of flux, and we must respond to the changes and challenges that come our way. To overcome challenges, we need the power of the cross to operate in our life. The best antidote for depression and disappointment is to keep doing th

Walking with a Limp

Image
The sun was rising as Jacob left Peniel, and he was limping because of the injury to his hip. (Genesis 32:31) Walking with a Limp Jacob’s story in the Scripture records many self-inflicted wounds. He was a liar and deceiver, which caused him much heartache. Later in life, he got tired of living like that, so he decided to get alone with God. The angel of the Lord showed up disguised as a man and began to wrestle with Jacob. It went on all night. Jacob held on to him and said, “I’m not going to let you go until you bless me.” The angel gave him his blessing, but after the struggle, Jacob walked with a limp. You can have a limp from a past failure or mistake and still be blessed and go on to do great things. So often we think our limp limits us. But the limp can be your testimony. It can be a reminder of the pain, or it can be a reminder of the grace of God and what He brought you through. You are forgiven and redeemed. Be at peace with your limp. A Prayer for Today “Father, thank You

God Working in Your Life?

Image
God Working in Your Life? “… —continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. ” (Philippians 2:12-13) Have you ever tried to push a car by yourself when the engine was not working? For most of us it is not possible to do so in our own strength. The key to living the Christian life is trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit to live through us, and not trusting in ourselves to do so. The flesh in itself does not have the power to live the Christian life. The Holy Spirit is like the engine in a car. The car will not move without the engine working. The Holy Spirit is like the battery in a flashlight. Unless the battery is working, there is no light. For the car to move and serve its purpose, the engine must be turned on. For the flashlight to shine a light beam, the battery must be engaged. For us to live the Christian life, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit and be controlled by hi

Is It Really Too Hard?

Image
Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD?” (Genesis 18:13–14) Is It Really Too Hard? Abraham was ninety-nine years old when the Lord told him that within a year, he would have a son. He and Sarah were way too old to have a baby. It was so far out that when Sarah heard it, she laughed out loud. Has God ever put something in your heart that seemed so unlikely, so big that your first reaction was to laugh? He whispers in your spirit that you’re going to live in a nice neighborhood, lead your company in sales, see your family restored, or get your health back. If Abraham would have only looked at it logically, he would have given up. But Abraham did what we all must do: He believed. “Yes, it’s impossible, but God can do the impossible. It defies the laws of nature, but God supersedes the laws of nature.” Whatever looks impossible in your life, what God started He will finish. As was tru
