Romans 8:1-17!

Image
Romans 8:1–17: The apostle Paul says that living according to the Spirit and in union with Christ Jesus sets us free from sin and death. Being controlled by human nature is in opposition to being led by the Spirit. Today’s Key Verse: Romans 8:1 GNT There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus. Read 8 There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus.  2  For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death.  3  What the Law could not do, because human nature was weak, God did. He condemned sin in human nature by sending his own Son, who came with a nature like our sinful nature, to do away with sin.  4  God did this so that the righteous demands of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature.  5  Those who live as their human nature tells them to, have...

Giving Equals Investment!

Image
Giving Equals Investment Scripture: Matthew 6:20–21 “ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ” (NIV) THE TWO BIG REASONS TO GIVE 1. Giving is your investment in eternity.  It is your eternal investment account. The Christian life is all about giving, and we are not just talking about money. Giving includes giving one’s self, time, talent, and treasure. Only two things will last for all of eternity: God’s Word will endure forever, and the souls of people will live forever in one of two places. Everything else perishes. Everything you and I can see and touch is going to perish. Our relationship with Jesus Christ will determine  WHERE  we live in eternity. How we spend our time, talent, and treasure will determine  HOW  we live in eternity. 2. Giving is the MAJOR GATEWAY  for God to work big time in the...

Back to Wholeness!

Image
He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” Genesis 3:10, NLT Back to Wholeness When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they immediately felt guilty and hid. They went from loving God to being afraid. They lost their innocence, their joy, their wholeness. Too often, we do the same. We make a mistake, have a disappointment or a broken relationship, and we go into hiding. You can lose part of yourself. Things happen that have taken your joy, limited your vision, stopped your creativity. Now you’ve settled in that area. You’re not pursuing your dreams, not enjoying your family, not passionate about life. God is saying, “Come out of hiding and go back to who I created you to be. Let Me love you back to wholeness and give you a new beginning.” Get your fire back, get your dream back. No more isolating, checking out, pretending to be there but not engaging. This is a new day. That lost part of you is coming back—the creative you, the outgoing y...

Guarding Our Hearts at All Costs!

Image
Guarding Our Hearts at All Costs Scripture: Proverbs 4:23 “ Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. ” (NIV) When we come to Christ, we give him our hearts in worship. This lays the foundation for all that follows in life. “ If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. ” (Romans 10:9–10, NIV) As soon as we trust in Jesus Christ, alone, as our Lord and Savior, we are sealed by the Spirit of God, and we are justified and made acceptable to Almighty God. Now that we are secure in him, we are in a position to do the works he has prepared for us to do. We are counseled to “ Let the message of Christ dwell among [us] richly as [we] teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God wit...

Two Kinds of Faith!

Image
Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.” Daniel 3:28, NIV Two Kinds of Faith In the book of Daniel, because three Hebrew teenagers refused to bow down to the king’s golden statue, they were thrown into a fiery furnace. They said, “The God we serve is able to deliver us from the fire, but even if He does not, we will not worship the image of gold.” Miraculously, they not only survived, but they came out unharmed and without even the smell of smoke. There are two kinds of faith. There’s delivering faith, when our all-powerful God instantly takes you out of the problem, keeps you out of the fire, parts the Red Sea. Then there’s sustaining faith, when God makes you fireproof and takes you through the fire as the pathway to your destiny. Most of t...

Our Hope!

Image
Our Hope! Scripture: Philippians 3:20–21 “ But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. ” (NIV) It is amazing to think we are only passing through a temporary world, knowing the real world awaits us when our “time bubble” breaks, thrusting us into the eternal paradigm. We have the assurance that our citizenship is in heaven and that is where we are heading. In the meantime, we have the prospect of Jesus Christ returning at any moment. This is truly a blessed hope! How encouraging to know that we will be freed from the foolishness of the wisdom and rulers of this age. I can hardly wait, in God’s timing, to receive a glorified body like the glorified body of Jesus Christ. This body will be beyond anything you and I can think or imagine. “ Then the righteous will shine like the sun...

Enough is Enough!

Image
“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” Exodus 3:7–8, NKJV Enough Is Enough The Israelites had been in slavery for 400 years. Ten generations had been mistreated, abused, and oppressed, though they’d done nothing wrong. Because the Egyptians had a strong army and weapons, it looked like the Israelites would never be free. But God said, “Enough is enough. You couldn’t do anything about it, but I’m coming down to break the chains, deliver you, and bring you into the Promised Land.” You may be struggling with something that you can look back and see has been passed down to you through generations of your family—an addiction, depression, poverty, guilt, shame, anxiety, insecurity. God knows the negative things...

Kingdom View Of Money!

Image
Kingdom View of Money Scripture: Psalm 19:9–11 “ The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. ” (ESV) The Bible warns us about the deceitfulness of riches. I have come to the conclusion that money is like a rattlesnake. It has to be handled carefully. It is paramount we understand and take to heart what the Scripture says about money. If we are not careful, it can become the god of our life. In fact, we are counseled to desire God and his Word more than riches. Here are some passages that tell us the same thing. In Proverbs we learn, “ Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. ” (Proverbs 8:10, NIV) Job tells us, “… and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the r...

Have a Vision!

Image
Where there is no vision, the people perish. Proverbs 29:18, KJV Have a Vision Oluwafemi, do you have a vision for your life, a God-sized dream and promises from God? It’s easy to have complaints about what didn’t work out or who hurt us. That wrong vision is going to limit your life. The Scripture says that if you’re lacking vision, you’ve reached your limits, you’re focused on what you can’t do and on how big the obstacles are. What would happen if you start writing a new vision? Write what God says about you. If you’re dealing with an illness, write the vision: “God says He is restoring health to me. I am healthy and whole. I am strong and energetic.” If you’re believing to pay your house off, write the vision: “God says I will lend and not borrow. What I touch prospers and succeeds. I am debt free. I am blessed so I can be a blessing.” Keep a new vision in front of you. That’s what you’re giving permission to come to pass. Who knows where God will take you if you will da...

A Comforting Truth!

Image
A Comforting Truth Scripture: Isaiah 43:1 “ Now this is what the Lord says. He created you, people of Jacob; he formed you, people of Israel. He says, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I have saved you. I have called you by name, and you are mine.’ ” (NCV) How comforting to realize that God knows us by name. He has created us, formed us, and even fashioned our hearts individually. “ He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. ” (Psalm 33:15, NKJV) Each of us is unique and special, created for fulfilling a specific purpose. Our priority must be to discover what we have been designed for, so we can find God’s purpose for us. Then we can be busy doing the works he has prepared for us. “ For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. ” (Ephesians 2:10, NLT) When we are used for our designed purpose, we can live the abundant life. We must listen for the voice of the Shepherd, “ The one who...

A Day to Honor!

Image
Give to everyone what you owe them...if honor, then honor. Romans 13:7, NIV A Day to Honor All throughout the Scripture, we see that God blesses an attitude of honor. In Exodus, it says that when we honor our parents, we are promised long life. In Proverbs, it says that when we pursue righteousness, we will find life, prosperity, and honor. To show honor simply means that you give respect and recognition to others with your attitude, actions, and words. As we humble ourselves and give honor, we will reap a harvest of honor in our lives in return. Today, we recognize Memorial Day as a time when we honor all the brave men and women who have given their lives in service for this country. As we remember them, let’s honor the gift of freedom they have given us by saying thank you with our actions and choosing to love and honor others. Let’s also honor all those who are serving in our armed forces and their families and sacrificing so much today. Let’s pray for God’s peace, protection,...
