Wake Up!

Image
Wake Up! Scripture: Jonah 1:6 “The captain went to him and said, ‘How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish.’ ”   How many Christians are living like this world is our final resting place, forgetting we are on mission with a spiritual battle raging all around us? The storms and turmoil we daily witness are the outward manifestations of what is going on behind the scenes in the spiritual world that we cannot see. Jonah had fallen asleep in the bowels of the ship while those above were in fear of their lives in the midst of a great storm. Jonah was on a detour of his own by disobeying the instructions from God to go to Nineveh to preach repentance. Basically, he was following his own agenda and not God’s. He ultimately came to realize,  “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.”  (Jonah 2:8) Jesus asked the same question of his disciples,  “ ‘Why are you sleeping?’ he asked them. ‘Get up an

20/20 Vision!

Image
Moses was 120 years old when he died; his eye was not dim nor his natural force abated. Deuteronomy 34:7 20/20 Vision When Moses was at the end of his life, the Scripture says that his natural eyesight was not dim, but consider this as also symbolic. His eyes of faith, the eyes of his heart, were still clear, still looking for God’s goodness and full of expectancy. At 120 years old, he had 20/20 vision of the awesome God who came to him at the age of eighty and said it was time to deliver the Israelites. Forty years after Moses had made a tragic mistake that seemingly caused him to miss God’s plan, he went on to part the Red Sea, to bring water out of a rock, and to see many other supernatural signs. If Moses were here, he would tell you that God’s favor is not for a season; it’s for your lifetime. You haven’t made too many mistakes, the obstacles are not too big, and God’s still going to bring to pass what He promised you. Now start expecting His favor. He’s longing to be good to

Shine Like the Sun!

Image
Shine Like the Sun Scripture: Colossians 3:3 “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” I once heard a preacher say, “Whatever you have will blow off on the way up or burn up on the way down.” There is truth in that statement. When you die and go to heaven, the cares and things of this world will have no impact whatsoever. That should make a big impact on us! The Psalmist realized this when he wrote,  “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  (Psalm 73:25–26) Our inheritance is Jesus Christ. Someday we will be just like him.  “As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.”  (Psalm 17:15) Not only will we be satisfied, but we also will be ecstatic! “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ a

Push through!

Image
She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment, for she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health. Mark 5:27–28 Push Through There was a lady who had a bleeding disorder for twelve years. She had spent all her money on the best doctors but continued to get worse. Then one day she heard that Jesus was passing through her town, and her faith was awakened suddenly. She left her house determined to push through the crowds and get to Jesus. She had to push through doubts that it wouldn’t happen, push through her past that said she’d tried and it didn’t work out, push through fear that Jesus might not approve her. Despite all the opposition, she kept saying to herself, “When I get to Jesus, I will be healed.” She tapped into her great faith, reached out and touched the edge of His robe, and was healed. Jesus looked at her and said, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. I didn’t even see you. Your

Our Unlimited Potential!

Image
Our Unlimited Potential Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:24 “But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”   If we could only comprehend what the Scripture says about our relationship with Jesus Christ, then our faith potentially would be greatly strengthened. The power and the wisdom of God literally reside on the inside of us. If we believe this and meditate on it, who knows what the Holy Spirit may choose to reveal to us,  “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  (Colossians 2:3) In fact, from a human standpoint, they are unsearchable except by revelation from the Spirit of God.  “These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”  (1 Corinthians 2:10) “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”  (Ephesians 3:8)  “But we ought always to give thanks to God

A dead Gog Mentality!

Image
Mephibosheth bowed to David again and said, “You are being very kind to me, your servant! And I am no better than a dead dog!” 2 Samuel 9:8 A Dead-Dog Mentality Mephibosheth was born into royalty as the grandson of King Saul. But after his father, Jonathan, and Saul were killed in battle, he was crippled in an accident and ended up living for many years in the slums of Lo-Debar, one of the poorest cities of that day. Mephibosheth let the bad breaks in his life define his identity, forgot who he was, and saw himself as no better than a dead dog. He would have lived his entire life in defeat and lack if David hadn’t brought him to live in the palace and restored all that belonged to his grandfather. You may have been through disappointments and feel like a victim, unworthy, not valuable, undeserving, at a disadvantage. But you have to get rid of that dead-dog mentality. The King of kings is looking to bring you to the palace and restore all that belongs to you as His child. He’s coming

True Faith in Chris

Image
True Faith in Christ Scripture: Romans 4:20–21, Hebrews 11:6 “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”   “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”   Abraham was a man who had true faith in God. True faith includes belief, conviction, dependence in the right object or person, and follow through with action consistent with the conviction. James said,  “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”  (James 2:17) Intellectual belief alone is not true faith. Faith in Christ and in what he has done on the cross includes conviction and dependence in him alone, which ultimately produces works through the believer. Jesus said,  “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the groun

Is Your Soul Healthy?

Image
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 2 Is Your Soul Healthy? Ninety percent of all visits to a primary care physician are stress-related. We don’t realize how much our emotions, attitudes, and thoughts affect us physically. Today’s Scripture implies that if our soul is unhealthy, it will spill over into our physical health. If you’re living worried, bitter, guilty, and angry, those negative emotions and that negative energy poison your soul and weaken your immune system’s ability to fight off sickness. You lie in bed worrying about your finances all night, can’t sleep, then wonder why you have no energy, your blood pressure is high, and you have constant headaches. It might be related to bitterness over what someone did years ago. You can’t take in toxins and not be poisoned. If you get your soul healthy, many of the physical ailments will go away. It’s all interconnected. Is your soul healthy? Ask God to show you any

Rooted in the Soil of God’s Love!

Image
Rooted in the Soil of God’s Love “… that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love… ” (Ephesians 3:16–17) This wonderful passage of Scripture should be read in conjunction with several of the surrounding verses to gain their full impact. The Holy Spirit is the great engine of power and capacity, enabling us to successfully fulfill the mission God has given us. We can meet the challenges in life as we allow the Spirit to strengthen us with his power in our inner being. This is accomplished by the process of  SOAK, SOW, and FLOW  with the Word and the Spirit of God. In fact, it is impossible to be a  CONVERTERLATOR  without the Holy Spirit working in our inner person. He cleanses us and strengthens us so Christ himself can live in our heart by faith. His Word nourishes us, rooting us in the soil of his love.

Lord Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd, and you were willing to die for my sake. I seek to follow you. Lead me each day with your gentle and loving voice. Amen.

Be Alert!

Image
Be Alert! “ Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ” (1 Peter 1:13) Scripture warns us to be alert and watchful. We live in a spiritual war zone and battle a strong adversary. “ Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. ” (1 Peter 5:8) The chief CONSUMERLATOR is out to steal, destroy, and kill our efforts to convert the perishable into the imperishable values of heaven. The Lord can return at any moment. He tells us to be watchful and waiting. We need to heed these words from Ephesians: “… for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’”  (Ephesians 5:14) Christ needs to shine on our efforts if we are to experience his blessing. We also want to avoid losing what we have gained in our work for the Lord

Dear Jesus, truly you offer me amazing grace by revealing God’s love to me and offering me forgiveness of my sins, salvation, and eternal life. Help me to see you more clearly each day and lovingly serve you. Amen.

The Triple Three Approach to Battling Life’s Challenges!

Image
The Triple Three Approach to Battling Life’s Challenges “ Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. ” (Micah 7:8) How comforting these words are when we sit in the darkness of circumstances that threaten to overpower us. Jesus Christ, the light of the world, shows us the way to life and immortality. The Psalmist also discovered where to look when difficulty came: “ Light shines in the darkness for the godly. They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. ” (Psalm 112:4) We have what I call the TRIPLE THREE APPROACH, outlined in 2 Thessalonians, the third chapter. First, he promises to strengthen and protect us: “ But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. ” (2 Thessalonians 3:3) Second, he directs us to focus on Christ, not on the problem. Focusing on the problem drains life from us, whereas Christ gives us power and peace: “ May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s lo

A Dangerous Trap!

Image
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety. Proverbs 29:25 A Dangerous Trap Its is a dangerous trap to let other people’s opinions of you, whether they will approve you, determine what you do or hold you back from doing what you know you should do. It is dangerous because if you fear people, if you live to please them, you can miss your destiny. Sometimes you have to be brave and go it alone. You have to do it without the approval of the people you thought would be for you. Other people may not see what God put in you. They can’t feel what you feel. You don’t have to have their approval. You and God are a majority. The Almighty God has shone His favor upon you. You can hear God’s voice for your life more than anyone else. Other people may confirm and encourage it, but if what they say doesn’t agree with your spirit, you need to dismiss it. Quit worrying about their opinions and get your approval from Him. Set your face like a flint and say, “God, I’m not l
