JESUS CHRIST IS THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD!

In Christian theology and Scripture, the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ center on love, faith, obedience, and total devotion to God and neighbor. When asked which commandment was the most important, Jesus summarized all of God's laws into two foundational principles.

1. The Great Commandment (The Greatest Commands)

When questioned by a lawyer in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus gave the core summary of the entire Law and the Prophets:

Love for God (The First Commandment): To love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, and mind.

Love for Neighbor (The Second Commandment): To love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus stated that all other commandments and prophetic teachings hang on these two foundational principles (Matthew 22:36–40; Mark 12:28–31).

2. The New Commandment

During the Last Supper, Jesus gave His disciples what He explicitly called a "new commandment":

Sacrificial Love: Disciples are commanded to love one another as Jesus loved them.

The Mark of Discipleship: Jesus highlighted that mutual, self-giving love would be the defining sign by which the world identifies His true followers (John 13:34–35; John 15:12).

3. Key Core Commands of Jesus in the Gospels

Throughout His public ministry, Jesus taught specific commands regarding spiritual life, conduct, and relationships:

4. Obedience as the Proof of Love

In Johannine theology (the Gospel and Epistles of John), obedience to Jesus's commandments is directly linked to loving Him and abiding in God:

"If you love me, keep my commands." — John 14:15

Believers are encouraged not merely to hear the commandments, but to put them into active practice in daily life.
