Take Time to Pray!

                  Take Time to Pray

Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6–7)

I was having a conversation with a friend and was sharing about some of the difficulties I was facing. As I finished talking, he said to me, “Fix it with Philippians 4:6.” Wow! Each one of us faces turmoil and challenges and disappointments that we need help in overcoming. Philippians 4:6–7 gives us a formula to face these situations head-on.

The key to overcoming challenges is learning how to pray. Everything good is sourced in God, and all of his promises have their “yes” or fulfillment in the person of Jesus Christ. Because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we have a relationship with God, our heavenly Father! He hears our prayers and requests. He is waiting for us to make our needs known to him. He will give us his peace and guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

The peace of Christ is one of the greatest promises we can experience. In fact, we are commanded to “let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful” (Colossians 3:15, NIV). When we are thankful, we are expressing faith in God’s provision for us.

KingdomNomics affirms this basic formula: “Prayer plus the supply of the Spirit will lead to God’s provision and deliverance.” We see this principle confirmed in Scripture: “And my God will supply your every need according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

Take time to pray and experience God’s peace, presence, and provision.

Today, ask yourself:

How often, when I am faced with difficult circumstances, do I try to “fix it with Philippians 4:6”?
