Our Unlimited Potential

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:24

“But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” 

If we could only comprehend what the Scripture says about our relationship with Jesus Christ, then our faith potentially would be greatly strengthened. The power and the wisdom of God literally reside on the inside of us. If we believe this and meditate on it, who knows what the Holy Spirit may choose to reveal to us, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3)

In fact, from a human standpoint, they are unsearchable except by revelation from the Spirit of God. “These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:10)

“To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.” (Ephesians 3:8) “But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 2:13–14)

Only God could have created such a wonderful plan of salvation for the helpless human race captured in the grip of sin. Our salvation is a work of God who has saved us through the sanctification of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of believing this truth is that we may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.” (2 Timothy 1:9)

It is all because of God that we are saved. He has shown us that everything is sourced in the person of Jesus Christ. He is truly our wisdom, as well as our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. “It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” (1 Corinthians 1:30)

As we grow in our relationship with him, may the Spirit of God choose to reveal more of himself to us, so we will know what he wants us to do. May he help us develop the right perspective on all that is happening in our world.

Today, ask yourself:

  1. Am I beginning to understand the reservoir of power and wisdom that resides in the inside of me in the person of Jesus Christ?
  2. Am I availing myself of it, as I have opportunity?

Experience SON POWER!

                    Experience SON POWER I love to watch the clouds in the sky during the day and in the brightness of the moon at night. Watching those clouds move is an illustration to me of how God is always on the move. He is continually working to change our circumstances and is always available to intervene in the affairs of mankind. Sometimes the clouds appear to be still, but if I watch long enough, I see their changing shapes, I notice them moving ever so slightly and silently. I would not even be aware of that movement if I was not focused intently on them. God is like this so much of the time. He is on the move in our circumstances.  The landscape of our lives is constantly changing, and God is there, directing and guiding, even when we are unaware.  The book of Psalms says it well, “Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there!” (Psalm 77:19).   The Roots of Hope Scripture: Habakkuk 3:17–19 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments. ”  From a circumstantial standpoint, the prophet Habakkuk lived in a terrible time. The land was soon to be invaded and, because of the disobedience of the people to God over time, prosperity was no more. Even though the circumstances were bad, Habakkuk gives us the formula for not only surviving but also thriving in such a period.
