Psalm 100:4 A Time to Give Thanks Today is a special day for us to give thanks to God for the good things He has done in our land, in our lives, and in the lives of our family members. When you take the time to pause and remember, you can see those times in your life when God brought you victory, brought you success. When you remember that He is providing for all your needs and give thanks to God for who He is and the miracles He has done in your life, you will be transformed. And let us remember that thanksgiving is an attitude of our heart. Living with an attitude of gratitude means you don’t just thank God for what He did in the past, you also thank Him for what He will do in the future.   Weave a Pattern of Gratitude “ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”  (Psalm 50:23) Isn’t it nice when people express gratitude to you and perhaps, even praise you for something you have done for them? Gratitude and praise strengthen our relationships. In the same way, our relationship with God is strengthened as we express our gratitude and praise to him. I am working at weaving a pattern of expressing gratitude and praise to God throughout all areas of my life. Colossians 1:22 Without a Single Fault it’s so important that you learn to forgive yourself. We have an enemy who loves to accuse us of our past failures and the times we got off course, bringing condemnation and guilt to cause us to be against ourselves. The accuser will tell you that you’ve given in to temptation so many times that you aren’t worthy of God’s forgiveness, that you’ll always be guilty. Don’t believe that lie. The apostle Paul says that God sees you as holy, blameless, and without fault. We see our faults and all we’ve done wrong, but when you asked God to forgive you, He cleared your record. Saved to Do Good Works “… Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. ” (Titus 2:14, NKJV) Good works do not save us. I want to be very clear about this. We are not saved “ by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ” (Titus 3:5–7) The work of salvation has been done by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. We are justified or made acceptable to God when we receive, as a  gift , the salvation he has provided through Christ. We trust in him alone for our salvation.   Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “Today you and your family have been saved, because you are a true son of Abraham.” Luke 19:9 Reach Out It’s easy to look at someone like Zacchaeus, a dishonest and despised tax collector, and make judgments, to find fault and condemn, and stay away. But Jesus came down to lift, to heal, to restore every person. Jesus called Zacchaeus out of a huge crowd of people and said, “I want to go to your house for dinner.” The religious leaders and the priests said, “Why would Jesus go to this crook’s house when He’s in the midst of fine, upstanding people like us?” They believed God was holy and righteous, but they didn’t believe He stoops to notorious sinners. Jesus didn’t say a word of condemnation to Zacchaeus because he was off course, but He loved him and brought salvation to him and his family.   Since God stooped down for you, why don’t you stoop down for someone else?   Does Your Conduct Contradict or Confirm Your Faith in God? “… Not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. ” (Titus 2:10) Christianity is not a list of  do s and  don’t s or an intellectual belief in the tenets of the Christian faith. True faith is having a  personal relationship  with God through the person of Jesus Christ. We have been born again to a living hope, a relationship with the risen Savior who lives in and through the life of each believer. That being the case, Scripture exhorts us to be good examples of the relationship we proclaim: “ Let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel… ” (Philippians 1:27) If we are to be effective representatives of Christianity, our conduct cannot contradict what we s...

  And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Luke 3:22 God’s Pleasure After Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, God the Father spoke from heaven and said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” It’s interesting that Jesus had not started His ministry yet. He had not healed anyone, not spoken the Sermon on the Mount, not turned water into wine. Yet His Father said, “I am well pleased with You.” God was pleased with who He is and not with what He could do. Jesus’ value didn’t come from His performance. It is because He is the Son of God.   God doesn’t base your value on what you do, on how well you perform, on how talented you are, or on how many people look up to you.
