          Converterlating Your Talent A paper weight on my desk has the inscription, “Don’t wait for your ship to come in. Swim out to it!” As we practice  Kingdom of God , we aggressively look for ways to converterlate our talents for the advancement of the kingdom of God. People often make the mistake of waiting for their ship to come in, hoping for something to come their way.  Waiting and wishing with good intentions will not accomplish any worthwhile objective.  If it feels like not much is happening in your life, perhaps the Lord is saying, “Stop waiting for your ship; start swimming!” We need to be alert to areas in which the Holy Spirit is moving us and blessing the efforts we are making on his behalf. Do not belittle whatever God has given to you. He is in the business of generating much out of little or nothing.   When the Lord saw the grieving mother, his heart broke for her. With great tenderness he said to her, “Please don’t cry.” Luke 7:13 Great Sorrow into Great Joy In Luke 7, a funeral procession was coming toward Jesus. They were on their way to bury a widow’s only son after she’d already buried her husband. You can imagine the pain she was dealing with. When Jesus saw her, “His heart broke.” God sees when you’re hurting. He sees when you’re lonely. When you feel so overwhelmed that you don’t think you can go on, He is moved with compassion. Jesus went over to the woman and said, in effect, “You’re weeping now, but I’m about to turn your great sorrow into great joy.” He raised her boy from the dead, and her tears were turned into joy. Sometimes life gets tough. You shed tears from hurts, from a bad medical report, from a child who breaks your heart, from dreams that don’t work out.           Converterlating Your Time While we are living in this world, each one of us has twenty-four hours each day. That doesn’t seem like so much until you break it down and discover it represents 1,440 minutes! That’s a lot of minutes … and we all have the same amount to use.  We may have different talents, and the amount of treasure varies from person to person, but we all have the same amount of time.  And the basic question I have for you here is:  In what ways are you using the time God has given to you in this world? Longevity of life is not really the issue here. Some people live very long lives and never accomplish anything of significance while others accomplish a great deal in a very short amount of time. Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 Dream Releasers Do you pay attention to who you’re letting speak into your life and who you’re coming into agreement with? If it’s negative people who pour cold water on your faith and cause you to doubt, it’s time to come out of that agreement. That’s going to limit you. You have to come into agreement with faith-filled, favor-filled, “all things are possible” people. You need to be in agreement with dream releasers, with people who don’t limit you to what you can do, what you can have, or who you know. Dream releasers are people who know that God can do more than you can ask or think. Dream releasers are people who are bold, who believe for what God put in your heart even when they don’t see how it can happen.   From Consuming to Converterlating The Bible tells us in Genesis 1–3 that God created a beautiful and perfect world. He created Adam and Eve in his image to inhabit his perfect world with the express purpose of having fellowship with him. And his creative design was for Adam and Eve to administer responsible stewardship over his creation. Unfortunately, a fallen angel entered God’s creation to entice mankind to disobey God, thereby introducing sin into God’s perfect creation. We often refer to this fallen angel as “Satan.” Peter describes him in the New Testament in this way, “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). I like to refer to Satan as the Chief Consumerlator. A  consumerlator  is anyone or anything that steals an opportunity to converterlate time, talent, or treasure into something of eternal value.   For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. Romans 8:14 Inner Promptings Many times we feel an inner prompting to be good to someone. That’s not random. That’s God talking to us. Or maybe you’re in a situation that seems fine, but you feel an uneasiness. Something says, “It’s not right. Stay away.” That’s not just your nerves. It’s God protecting you. Don’t ignore it, don’t overanalyze it, don’t talk yourself out of it, just obey. The Holy Spirit is in us to guide us. The Scripture talks about being sensitive to our inner ear, listening to His still small voice, the promptings, the suggestions, the alarms. Then God will guide you along the best path for your life. Too often we feel these inner impressions, but we debate them and dismiss them. Or we override it and say, “I don’t feel peace about this, but it looks safe.” We overanalyze it and think, “I could give them ten dollars, but that doesn’t make sense.” Don’t talk yourself out of it.
