A Pure Heart!

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
Matthew 5:8, NIV
A Pure Heart
The word “pure” in the original Greek is where we get our word “catharsis” from, which means “cleansing, purifying.” After surgery, a catheter is a tube used to drain the toxins and infection out of the body. Today’s Scripture is saying if you’re going to see God, you have to keep the impurities out. When an offense comes, when insults and disrespect come, you have to make sure the toxins are released and flow out. You can’t stop them from coming, but you can stop the toxins from staying.

The problem comes when we hold on to hurts, keep thinking about what someone said or how we were treated. Now our heart is not pure. There’s unforgiveness, resentment, anger, or bitterness. That’s why we can’t see God. Is your vision limited because you’re not dealing with offenses properly? Is the favor on your life, the blessing, the creativity, the potential, not showing up like it should because you’re holding on to hurts? The good news is, you will see things clear up if you start forgiving quickly, releasing the toxins, and making sure your heart stays pure.
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I can have a pure heart today because of the blood of Jesus. Thank You that I can release any hurts, any anger, any guilt and bitterness and flush them out of my life. Help me to forgive whatever needs forgiving and let go of the past. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
