He Is Your Hiding Place!

                            He Is Your Hiding Place

“You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble.”

—Psalm 32:7

Years ago, there was a popular worship song that you may remember titled “You Are My Hiding Place.” The lyrics echo the words in today’s verse, and the song is powerful.

We can’t know HaShem as our “hiding place” unless we come to a place of dependency, weakness, and humility. The psalmist knew that. He wrote from a place of trust, clinging, and dependency, “You preserve me from trouble.” When we realize our need for God’s protection and covering, we recognize that He is our only hiding place and that we can abide under the shadow of His wings, under the shelter of His protection. When we walk in this reality, we feel safe and secure, just like the psalmist.

The truth is, we are vulnerable in this world outside of God. So many things are out of our control. At any moment, we could get struck by lightning, killed in a car accident, or diagnosed with a deadly disease. It’s only because the Lord is our hiding place that our life is preserved in such a dangerous existence.

Obviously, this doesn’t mean we’ll never have any challenges, but I don’t think any of us has any idea how many troubles God has already protected us from and preserved us in. God loves you today. You can lay your head down on your pillow at night knowing that Father God truly is and will be your hiding place. As Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!’ For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence” (vv. 1–3).

Father God, thank You for being my hiding place and preserving me from trouble. I know in this world there will be challenges, but I will rejoice because You have overcome the world. I don’t know what will happen in the future, but I am trusting today that I am and will always be safe inside You. Help me to live in a place of humility and dependence on You. Father, cause me to experience security and peace in Jesus’ name.
