Sovereign God, you are my shepherd. Thank you for your steadfast love and care, and for feeding me and nourishing me each day with your holy Word. Amen.

The King’s Service!

Image
The King’s Service Scripture: Matthew 7:8 “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. ”  There is nothing like being in the King’s service. Then we realize what we are designed for and the particular works he wants us to do. We experience a fulfilling and abundant life when we are in the center of God’s will. Our lives will truly echo into eternity as we experience the favor and blessing of God when we are in harmony with his will. How do we know this for sure?  “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ” (Ephesians 2:10) This verse tells how we are God’s handiwork, special vessels made for the purpose of being productive. He wants us to be engaged in the good works he has prepared for us. When we are spiritually born into his family, we become a new creation with renewed purposes and works to do for his kingdom. How do we find these...

Start Prophesying Victory!

Image
Then Balak’s anger burned against Balaam. He struck his hands together and said to him, “I summoned you to curse my enemies, but you have blessed them these three times.” (Numbers 24:10) Start Prophesying Victory King Balak of the Moabites offered a prophet named Balaam a lot of money to put a curse upon the Israelites. But God told Balaam, “What I have blessed, you cannot curse.” When Balak continued to press Balaam, not only did Balaam refuse, but God had him start speaking blessings over the Israelites, how they would succeed and accomplish great things. Notice that when God puts the commanded blessing on you, it doesn’t matter what somebody else says or does. All that matters is the Creator of the universe put His blessing on you, and everything else is of no effect. They can speak defeat all day long, but here’s the key: they are powerless to change the blessing on your life. When the enemy tries to curse your future with negative words and negative thinking, do like Balaam....

New Life at Work!

Image
New Life at Work Scriptures: Galatians 2:20, Romans 6:11 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ” (Galatians 2:20) “In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. ” (Romans 6:11) Christ can live and continue his ministry through us while we are still in this world. These two verses encapsulate these “secrets” of the kingdom to us. If we grasp these truths, in faith, our lives will be in for radical change. We can become “overcomers,” no longer helpless victims enslaved to sin. We must be crucified with Christ, counting ourselves dead to sin. Yes, sin lurks inside of us, always trying to reassert itself. But the good news is we no longer have to surrender to its control. The following verses verify this spiritual truth: “Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, ...

Glorious Things!

Image
Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good. Let us see your miracles again; let our children see glorious things. (Psalm 90:15–16) Glorious Things Psalm 90 is a prayer of Moses. Perhaps you can identify with his request in today’s Scripture. He was saying, “God, I’m having a tough time. I’ve had some bad breaks, but I’m asking for Your restored blessing.” When you face difficulties, do as Moses did and pray, “God, strengthen me again, heal me again, and show me Your favor again.” Your situation may not look good. You may be facing something at your business, in a relationship, or have a health issue that you don’t think could ever work out. But God didn’t bring you this far to leave you. He can turn things around, bring a breakthrough, restore your health and happiness, and cause your business to take off. Rise up in faith and say, “God, I’m not going to give up. I’m believing to see glorious things, miracles again, the dream come to pas...

Wake Up!

Image
Wake Up! Scripture: Jonah 1:6 “The captain went to him and said, ‘How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish.’ ” How many Christians are living like this world is our final resting place, forgetting we are on mission with a spiritual battle raging all around us? The storms and turmoil we daily witness are the outward manifestations of what is going on behind the scenes in the spiritual world that we cannot see. Jonah had fallen asleep in the bowels of the ship while those above were in fear of their lives in the midst of a great storm. Jonah was on a detour of his own by disobeying the instructions from God to go to Nineveh to preach repentance. Basically, he was following his own agenda and not God’s. He ultimately came to realize,  “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.”  (Jonah 2:8) Jesus asked the same question of his disciples,  “ ‘Why are you sleeping?’ he ask...

High Time

Image
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. (Romans 13:11, NKJV) High Time When God first put that dream or promise in your heart, you were excited; you told people what you were going to do. But now it’s been months, maybe years, and things haven’t turned out like you planned. Today’s Scripture says you are closer now to seeing it come to pass than you’ve ever been. You’re coming into a high time. High time is when things suddenly change in your favor, when blessings chase you down. High time is when your healing shows up, you break the addiction, you meet the right person. God makes things happen that you could never make happen. If you’re going to see this high time, you have to wake up out of your sleep. That means to get your passion back. Start believing again, start expecting things to change, start talking like it’s going to happen. You can’t be complacent and step into t...

Keep Seeking What Is Above

Image
“Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” —Colossians 3:1–3 You have been raised with Christ! You are also seeking the things above. Your life is becoming increasingly hidden in Christ as you strategically invest your time, talent, and treasure into advancing the kingdom of God. You are actively seeking to do his will. What are some of the characteristics of the person who is seeking the things above? You are focused on doing the will of God and accomplishing the work he has for you to do. Doing the will of God is an indication that the Word of God is operating in your life. Increasingly, the fruit of the Spirit is manifesting itself in your life. Your objective is to be into low-profile, high-impact player as you help fulfill the Great Commission. As we seek the things above, we...

Be Your Best Today!

Image
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24) Be Your Best Today When we read about the heroes of faith, their lives seem so exciting, but the truth is that most of their days were routine. Moses experienced one miracle after another, but those involved only a few days of his life. Most of our days will be ordinary days with some exciting days. If you live from big event to big event, waiting for something exciting to keep you encouraged, you’re going to be disappointed. Learn to enjoy where God has you right now. This is the day the Lord has made. It may be routine, but when you do the ordinary with a good attitude, that’s getting you prepared for the new things God has in store. It’s being faithful day in and day out, doing the right thing when the wrong thing is happening, staying in faith when we’re not getting our way. You won’t be promoted if you’re not being your best where God has you right now. A Prayer For Today “Father, thank You ...

Shine Like the Sun!

Image
Shine Like the Sun Scripture: Colossians 3:3 “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”   I once heard a preacher say, “Whatever you have will blow off on the way up or burn up on the way down.” There is truth in that statement. When you die and go to heaven, the cares and things of this world will have no impact whatsoever. That should make a big impact on us! The Psalmist realized this when he wrote,  “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  (Psalm 73:25–26) Our inheritance is Jesus Christ. Someday we will be just like him.  “As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.”  (Psalm 17:15) Not only will we be satisfied, but we also will be ecstatic! “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known....

God Will Connect the Dots!

Image
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” (Genesis 50:20) God Will Connect the Dots God gave Joseph a dream that he was destined for greatness, but before that dream came true, he went through some very dark places. However, today’s Scripture shows how God connected the dots. Being thrown into the pit by his brothers led to being sold to Potiphar in Egypt, which led to being falsely accused and put in prison. In prison, he interpreted the dreams of the butler and the baker, which led to interpreting Pharaoh’s dream and being put in charge of the nation. Every step was divinely orchestrated and moving Joseph toward his destiny. As was true in Joseph’s life, you have to believe that a disappointment, a betrayal, or a setback is part of God’s plan. It’s moving you little by little into your destiny. God knows what He’s doing. What looks like trouble is really the hand of God. Keep doing the r...

The Lord’s ROI (Return On Investment)!

Image
The Lord’s ROI (Return On Investment) “‘ …So I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’ But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. ’” (Matthew 25:25–27) In Kingdom of God, one of our main motivations, at the instruction of Jesus Christ, is to build up treasure for ourselves in heaven, so our lives will echo into eternity. Some people don’t care about building up treasure for themselves in heaven; they think they can coast their way to heaven after making a decision for Christ. The above passage makes it clear there is another side of the coin that relates to the Lord’s ROI, or the Lord’s  Return On Investment . He sacrificed his son, Jesus Christ, so you and I can have eternal life. He has made a huge ...

Holy God, LORD Almighty is your name. There is no one like you, and I praise your great and powerful name. You made everything, and you are the true and living God. May all I do and say this day bring honor and glory to you. Amen.

Our Unlimited Potential!

Image
Our Unlimited Potential Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:24 “But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”   If we could only comprehend what the Scripture says about our relationship with Jesus Christ, then our faith potentially would be greatly strengthened. The power and the wisdom of God literally reside on the inside of us. If we believe this and meditate on it, who knows what the Holy Spirit may choose to reveal to us,  “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  (Colossians 2:3) In fact, from a human standpoint, they are unsearchable except by revelation from the Spirit of God.  “These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”  (1 Corinthians 2:10) “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”  (Ephesians 3:8)  “B...

True Faith in Christ!

Image
True Faith in Christ Scripture: Romans 4:20–21, Hebrews 11:6 “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”   “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”   Abraham was a man who had true faith in God. True faith includes belief, conviction, dependence in the right object or person, and follow through with action consistent with the conviction. James said,  “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”  (James 2:17) Intellectual belief alone is not true faith. Faith in Christ and in what he has done on the cross includes conviction and dependence in him alone, which ultimately produces works through the believer. Jesus said,  “Very truly I tell you, unless a kerne...

PRAY!

Lord God, teach me to listen each day for your voice and heed what you say. You are truly patient, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Whenever I stray from your teachings, thank you for continually reaching out to me and drawing me back to you. Amen.

Don’t Rely on People’s Approval!

Image
“Your approval means nothing to me.” (John 5:41) Don’t Rely on People’s Approval It’s great when people cheer us on and make us feel valuable. We love when a friend compliments us or a coworker helps us on a project. God uses people to help move us toward our destiny. But you can’t become so dependent on people that you’re trying to get your worth and value from them. It’s easy to rely on them to keep you feeling good about yourself and make you feel approved. But if they don’t give you their approval and meet your expectations, you’ll feel discouraged and inferior, and you’ll work overtime to try to win their approval. The problem is, you’re trying to get from people what only God can give. Your value, your self-worth doesn’t come from another person—it comes from your Creator. Jesus knew better than to rely on people. What they do or don’t do doesn’t determine your worth and cannot stop your purpose. Quit depending on others’ approval and start approving yourself. A Prayer for ...
