  Join the Few of the Few: Become a Kingdom Investor Scripture: Matthew 7:14, NKJV “Because narrow is the gate…which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”  (Matthew 7:14, NKJV) You and I have a decision to make. Do we want to become a  strategic Kingdom Investor , developing a life that will echo into eternity in a positive way? If so, we will have to abandon the way of the crowd, and the multiple voices of the world that compete for our attention every day. Jesus said that few in the world would choose the narrow way of salvation, but would prefer the broad way to destruction. When it comes to making strategic investments of  time, talent, and treasure for the advancement of God’s kingdom, only a few of the few grasp and run with the eternal mission assigned to the believers left in this world.   Grace Upon Grace “For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.” — John 1:16            Reflection John writes, “For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.” This unusual phrase points to the layered aspect of God’s grace revealed over time. Many believers have been taught to think of the Law given through Moses and the grace revealed through Jesus as if they are in opposition. John 1:17 has often been read, “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” The word  but  creates a contrast. It can make it sound as though the Law of the Lord is the opposite of the grace of God. But God’s Law is not contrary to His grace. The underlying purpose of the Law was to reveal the amazing grace of the Lord.   Hey! There’s No Armor for my Back! Scripture: Ephesians 6:11, NIV “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”  (Ephesians 6:11, NIV) At the Gettysburg battleground there is a small plaque that says, “Write home, and tell them I died facing the enemy.” The Christian life is all about advancing, pressing forward, running a race, forgetting those things that are behind – all for the purpose of accomplishing God’s will on this earth. We invade the darkness with the light of the Gospel, going into all the world with all of the means God has given us. Retreat is not an option. We are in a battle, taking new ground.   A Garden Belonging to Him “A garden locked is my sister, my bride, a rock garden locked, a spring sealed up.” — Song of Songs 4:12           Reflection In the ancient world there were two types of gardens: private and public. Public gardens were open for anybody to enjoy, but wealthy people often had private gardens, locked and sealed for their own enjoyment. Through this picture, Yeshua is saying, You are to Me as a sealed garden, exclusively for Me. Nothing will come in that defiles or pollutes.  We must put boundaries of protection around our lives, not allowing the defiling influence of the world inside. This is why we should not willingly take in things that, while they might be interesting or entertaining, pollute our souls.   Are You The Owner?   Ready to Do Good Works? Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:21, NIV “ Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. ” (2 Timothy 2:21, NIV) In order to perform effective and safe surgeries, a surgeon must take extreme caution to ensure that instruments are properly sterilized. Otherwise there is a risk of serious infection occurring. Uncleansed instruments are not useful to the surgeon. One function of God’s Word is to cleanse us as we  soak  our heart in it. This is vitally necessary if we are to be effective instruments fit for use by God. God has a special purpose for each Christian. He wants to work through us; however, he must have cleansed “instruments” so he can use us for noble purposes.
