Ever Grateful!

Image
Ever Grateful Scripture: Colossians 1:12–14, “ …Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. ” This passage is a great candidate for being a Spiritual M & M (Memorize & Meditate). I lift my heart in gratitude to God for his marvelous provision of salvation. Truly, he is the God who sees and provides. God himself has qualified us to partake of the inheritance of the saints. He qualifies us when we place our faith in the person of Jesus Christ, alone, for our salvation. Salvation is a  gift of God . Paul emphasizes this: “ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ” (Romans 6:23( “ For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, no...

Your Faith Journey!

Image
The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation.” Genesis 12:1–2 Your Faith Journey The way God leads us always requires faith. For Abram to reach his destiny meant he had to leave his comfort zone of family, friends, and blessing and take steps of faith into the unknown. Our God is a moving God. He’s taking you on a journey. The place of blessing is going to move. It may not always be physical as it was for Abram; sometimes it’s your thinking. You have to leave limited mindsets. You have to quit telling yourself you’re not qualified and take that new position at work, teach that class, or volunteer at the church. Quit thinking about what didn’t work out, who did you wrong, the relationship that didn’t make it. God is in control. He knows when it’s time for you to move forward. That’s why He’s commanded another place for you to be blessed. Now be sensitive to what He’s sayi...

Christ Alone is the Source of our Salvation!

Image
Christ Alone is the Source of our Salvation Scripture: Matthew 7:21–24 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”   Recently, I received an email from a subscriber of Kingdom of God wanting an explanation of the above verses. No matter how great the ministry of an individual may be, we must remember the source, power, and foundation of our salvation is the person of Jesus Christ alone. Only he gives us right standing before God, not our works. I believe Matthew 7:21–24 is referring to people who are trusting in their wor...

Messy Places!

Image
“Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.” Jeremiah 32:17 Messy Places Do you ever have thoughts that the God who is so precise, so detailed, that He causes the earth to rotate down to the millisecond and has stars, planets, and galaxies fit perfectly in place and stay in order is somehow going to falter in His plan for your life? Do you think He would ever let something happen that wasn’t designed, a bad break or a messy situation, keep you from your destiny? If He made a mistake with you, you would be the first one. You’re going to go through some messy places, things you don’t understand, weaknesses that you haven’t overcome, but it’s all a part of the process. It may be uncomfortable, you may have brought the trouble on yourself, but it’s not a surprise to God. When He designed your plan, He took it into account. Despite the wrong choices, despite the dysfunction, despite the del...

Walking the Talk!

Image
Walking the Talk Scripture: Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”   We recently received a question from a subscriber  about how to overcome a particular moral issue in his life, in addition to fending off the accusations of Satan even after confession of the sin to God. We suggested several steps an individual can take to overcome sin. The first step is to confess: “ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ” (1 John 1:9) Confession includes repentance from continuing or practicing the sin. Second, God gives us the power to overcome temptation and sin by the power of the Holy Spirit.  “Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. ” (Romans ...

Be Prepared!

Image
Be prepared in season and out of season. 2 Timothy 4:2 Be Prepared When Paul told Timothy to “be prepared in season and out of season,” he was talking about ministering, but the principle is true when you’re waiting for God to do something. Stay prepared in your mind in season, when things are going your way, and out of season, when the medical report is not good, when your business slows down. Don’t live discouraged and put God in a box that limits how He does it. Don’t tell Him how or when to do it. No, get ready for God to show up out of season. God knows how to bring what you need. The odds may be against you, and you don’t see any sign of things changing. God is asking you what He asked Moses in Numbers 11: “Is there any limit to My power? Do you think the conditions can hold Me back? Do you think the seasons can stop Me from doing what I want to do?” Take the limits off God. Start expecting, start believing. Don’t be surprised when God shows up when you don’t see Him coming...

The King’s Service!

Image
The King’s Service Scripture: Matthew 7:8 “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. ” There is nothing like being in the King’s service. Then we realize what we are designed for and the particular works he wants us to do. We experience a fulfilling and abundant life when we are in the center of God’s will. Our lives will truly echo into eternity as we experience the favor and blessing of God when we are in harmony with his will. How do we know this for sure?  “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ” (Ephesians 2:10) This verse tells how we are God’s handiwork, special vessels made for the purpose of being productive. He wants us to be engaged in the good works he has prepared for us. When we are spiritually born into his family, we become a new creation with renewed purposes and works to do for his kingdom. How do we find these works...
