It was the one thing missing in her life, a dream that was close to her heart and one she wanted so badly, but she had given up. When the prophet Elisha spoke today’s Scripture, she didn’t have the faith. Down deep she wanted to believe, but her mind told her all the reasons why it wasn’t going to happen. She was saying, “Don’t get my hopes up. That’s too good to be true.” But what God had spoken over her came to pass. God exceeded her expectations even though she didn’t believe. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. ” (1 Peter 1:13) Soak your Heart Scripture repeatedly reminds us to set our minds on the things above and prepare for action. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. 1 Peter 1:6 Don’t Believe the Forever Lies God never says that we won’t go through trials, through hardships, through unfair situations. But Peter says that it is just for a little while. He doesn’t say “years from now” that your faith is going to be shown genuine and purified like gold. No, in just a little while you’re going to see God do something awesome in your life. In just a little while your health is going to turn around, your child will get back on course, you’ll overcome the addiction. Don’t believe the forever lies that the enemy loves to whisper, “It’s going to be years before…”. He’s trying to get you discouraged, doubting what God can do, to where you give up on your dreams. That power is the preaching of the cross: Christ—the power of God—is in us. God wants us to experience Christ’s resurrection power. God wants us to comprehend the incredible greatness of his power toward us who believe—the same power he worked when he raised Christ from the dead. This power operates in our lives as we learn how to tap into it. Sow to the Spirit This “power” passage helps us expand our vision of God. As we understand that all power is sourced in God, we realize that nothing is too difficult for him to handle. What you’ve been believing for is not years down the road. It’s at hand. It’s close. It could happen any day. You are closer to meeting the right person than you’ve ever been, closer to seeing your health turn around than you’ve ever been, closer to seeing explosive blessings than you’ve ever been.   Playing to an Audience of One Scripture: Psalm 44:3 “ For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them. ” (Psalm 44:3) The world elevates those whom it proclaims are “self-made” individuals. Many of these people bask in the glory given to them. In reality, all of life is sourced in God. Psalm 44:3 shows believers that we are not self-sufficient people who can claim successes of our own making. The Lord makes it clear that possession of the Promised Land didn’t come from anything his people did, but from the hand of the Lord. Therefore, any glory should go only to God. This principle is proclaimed throughout Scripture. The Lord blesses his people in various ways, and he warns us not to forget him when things seem to be going right.
