Do You Have a Self-Serve Mentality?

Scripture: Luke 6:38

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

In Luke 6:38, Jesus tells us that as we give it will be given back to us in good measure, pressed down, and shaken together along life’s way.

The other day I drove into a gas station and I saw a sign in big letters, SELF SERVE, over the gas pumps. Before I became a practitioner of Kingdom of God , my attitude was the SELF-SERVE MENTALITY. When I pulled up to anything I wanted, in effect, I said to myself, “FILL’ER UP!”

The principles of Kingdom of God  teach us life does not consist of the abundance of things, and that we should labor for the food that leads to eternal life. We find an increasing life of fulfillment as we practice giving or investing in what matters to the Lord Jesus Christ.

When the “time bubble” in which we find ourselves pops, and we suddenly find ourselves in realm of eternity, we will be very glad we invested in eternal values while we were in this world. God’s values and priorities should increasingly become our values and priorities.

I remind myself from time to time what John the Baptist said, “He must increase and I must decrease.”  This is a great mindset for the Kingdom of God  thinker to have regarding Jesus Christ.

Today, ask yourself:

Is he increasing in my life and am I, the “self,” decreasing?

Stay in Balance!

  Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat. Mark 6:31 Stay in Balance Everywhere Jesus went, He was healing people, teaching in the synagogues, pouring Himself into His disciples. People made constant demands on His time and energies. Imagine how He felt. As the Son of God, He had this incredible power, anointing, wisdom, so much to offer.
