Psalm 100

Introduction

Psalm 100: This psalm is a hymn of praise that acknowledges God as our Creator and us as God’s people. It calls us to worship and reminds us why we thank and praise God.

Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 100:5

The LORD is good; his love is eternal and his faithfulness lasts forever.

Reading

100 Sing to the Lord, all the world!
2 Worship the Lord with joy;
come before him with happy songs!

3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God.
He made us, and we belong to him;
we are his people, we are his flock.

4 Enter the Temple gates with thanksgiving;
go into its courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise him.

5 The Lord is good;
his love is eternal
and his faithfulness lasts forever.

Reflect

This psalm affirms that we belong to God and compares God’s people to a flock of sheep. What are your thoughts about this image? Verse 5 concludes the psalm with the reason for praising God. How will you thank and praise God today?

Pray

Lord God, you are indeed good and your faithfulness lasts forever. Gather me into your flock and renew and refresh me each day with your life-giving Word. I thank and praise you for your steadfast mercy, love, and care. Amen.

Give Cheerfully!

        Give Cheerfully “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”  (2 Corinthians 9:7) When giving is done with the right attitude, it can be a gateway for God to move in significant ways in our lives. It is important to remember that it is not the amount we give that matters so much as it is the attitude that characterizes our giving. God loves it when we give out of a cheerful and grateful heart. God’s loving of a cheerful giver results in God taking action in our lives. Scripture states unequivocally that God will make all spiritual and earthly blessing abound to us so we can multiply our efforts for the kingdom. This is why I believe giving provides a major gateway for God to work in our lives, we can expect God to visit us.
