The Power of God’s Word

“…So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

No wonder the Scripture says, “Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 8:3).

God’s Word is powerful. Active. It accomplishes. Wherever it is sent, it prospers.

To fulfill God’s purposes, we need more than material things. We need to absorb God’s Word. As we do so, we learn more about the mind of God and open ourselves to receive revelations he wants us to know and enjoy.

Jesus says, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).

By his Word we are renewed inwardly.

His Word is like discovering the treasure of treasures. “For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 8:35).

This treasure is much better than the mirage reportedly pursued by the conquistador, Ponce de Leon, who searched for the fabled fountain of youth. Paul said, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16).

The Psalmist said, “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light” (Psalm 36:9).

Only the Word of God can renew us.

All other pursuits are in vain if they are being used to substitute the place the Word of God merits in our life.

Peter confirms this, saying, “We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19).

Job said that he treasured God’s Word more than his necessary food. David said God’s Word was more valuable to him than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. Jeremiah said when he found God’s Words, he ate them, and they became his heart’s delight! I think there is a message here for you and me to take to heart.

Today, ask yourself:

What place does the Word of God have in my life? If another person looked at my relationship with the Word of God, what would they observe?

  The Roots of Hope Scripture: Habakkuk 3:17–19 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.   The Source of Son Power “ In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands. They will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing. You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will live forever. ” (Hebrews 1:10–12) These verses were written about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus is the one who laid the foundation of the earth! Jesus made the heavens with his hands! Jesus is the one who is always the same and will live forever! The earth and heavens we are able to see will be folded up someday and discarded like old clothing, but Jesus will live forever.
