"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:24) Believe and Receive Has God spoken things to your heart that haven't come to pass yet? Sometimes when we are believing for things, it’s easy to become discouraged when it doesn’t happen according to our timetable. But when you make the choice to receive your promise by picturing it in your mind's eye and declaring it with the words of your mouth, your faith becomes stronger. You begin to have joy and peace because you know God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. What are you believing for God to do in your life? See it in your mind's eye. See yourself healed. See yourself paying off that last debt. As you allow God's thoughts to become your thoughts and receive His promises by faith, just like it says in today's verse, whatever you ask for in prayer will be yours! A Prayer for Today ...

Weave a Pattern of Gratitude

Image
Weave a Pattern of Gratitude “ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.” (Psalm 50:23) Isn’t it nice when people express gratitude to you and perhaps, even praise you for something you have done for them? Gratitude and praise strengthen our relationships. In the same way, our relationship with God is strengthened as we express our gratitude and praise to him. I am working at weaving a pattern of expressing gratitude and praise to God throughout all areas of my life. Even when things aren’t going right, I look for something in my daily experience to thank God for. “ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. ” (Psalm 69:30) If you have not been practicing praise and gratitude, why not start now, and see what happens? “ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable...

Strength to Conquer

Image
"For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them." (Psalm 44:3) Strength to Conquer Do you need God's strength to conquer something in your life today? Maybe you need strength to forgive or to overcome an addiction. Maybe you need strength to deal with a difficult person in the office. No matter what you may be facing, God desires to give you His supernatural strength in every situation. It's interesting that one translation of this verse says, "because God smiled upon them and favored them." Did you know that simply calling on God causes Him to smile on you? Because you are His child, you have His favor! God loves to show Himself strong on your behalf. Be strong in the Lord knowing that He is with you, smiling upon you, and showering you with His favor. As you meditate on this promise, you wil...

Listen Up!

Image
"After the earthquake a fire, but Adonai was not in the fire. After the fire there was a soft whisper of a voice."   (1 Kings 19:12) Listen Up! Listening is a lost art today. We can be so concerned about expressing our thoughts and opinions that we don't listen closely to others—or even to God. If we're not careful, distractions and busyness can drown out the voice that matters most in our lives, the voice of our heavenly Father. The good news is that you can learn to tune out the negative noise of the world and start listening for God's voice, for hopeful, positive, faith-filled thoughts. Be receptive and listen for His still, small voice on the inside of you. God speaks not only through the Bible but also through godly counsel and His Holy Spirit. All it takes is a simple prayer like the one Samuel prayed in 1 Samuel 3:10 when he said to God, "I am listening." Then be ready to listen for His answer. A Prayer for Today "God, than...

Pray for the Favor of God to Rest on You

Image
Pray for the Favor of God to Rest on You “ May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands. ” (Psalm 90:17) Our relationship with God through Christ means LIFE, FAVOR, and REWARD! We all want to experience a full and meaningful life. The Scripture tells us we can experience the favor of God if we establish the right kind of relationship with him. He also tells us about rewards that can come from such a relationship. Those who practice  and become yield-active  converterlators  (converting our perishable time, talent, and treasure in to the imperishable values of the Kingdom), have discovered this great secret of the kingdom. We have found life, favor, and reward already. And we are anticipating much more in the life to come. Therefore, we pray that the favor of God will rest on us. Power belongs to God. He is the one who can change circumstances. He is the one who can open doors. He is the one...

"With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall." (Psalm 18:29)

Image
"With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall." (Psalm 18:29, NIV) Jump Over that Wall! The great heroes of the Bible impress us with their strength, their confidence and the depth of their faith. And as God's Word tells us, you can do the same great things they did because you have the same God in you! King David was supremely confident in God—firm in the knowledge that God would give him the strength to overcome his obstacles. God can cause you to go over them, around them, or even through them, but God will get you to where you’re supposed to be. Philippians 4:13 says you can have strength "for all things" through the power of Christ in your heart. We hope this will encourage you to take a stand for God. Don't ever think that God did great things only for people in the days of the Bible. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Call on Him, and you'll see Him come through and do what only...

Prayer

Image
Almighty God, help me to be strong with all the strength that comes from your glorious power, so that I may be able to endure everything with patience. With joy I give you thanks for rescuing me from the power of darkness and bringing me safely into the kingdom of your dear Son, Jesus Christ my Lord, by whom you have set me free and offered me forgiveness of my sins. Amen.

Prayer

Image
Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of your salvation and for welcoming me into your kingdom. Teach me to reach out to those who are lost or lonely and bring them your comforting word of love. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.

Play to an Audience of One

“ For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them. ” (Psalm 44:3) The world elevates people whom it proclaims are self-made individuals. Many of these people bask in the glory given to them by the world. But in reality, all life is sourced by God. In the verse from Psalm 44:3, the Lord made it perfectly clear that possession did not come by their own sword or by their own arm. The possession of the land was brought about by the right hand of the Lord, his arm, and the light of his countenance. He favored them! In the same manner, believers are not self-sufficient people who can claim any of our “successes” as being of our own making. Any glory should go only to God. This principle is proclaimed throughout Scripture. The blessing of the Lord is responsible for what we have. The Lord has given people who have wealth the power to gain ...

He leads me beside quiet waters.

Image
"...he leads me beside quiet waters." (Psalm 23:2) Take Time to Reflect If you've ever said to yourself, "I don't even have time to think," then you know how hard it is to concentrate when you're being bombarded with noise from all sides. It can be even harder to hold on to peace when we don't make time to read His Word. God doesn't often shout to get our attention. Instead, the Bible says that He speaks in "a still, small voice" (1 Kings 19:12), which means we need to listen closely. What can you do to put yourself in a position to hear God's voice? The key is to make time every day away from the busyness and distractions. Find a room in your house, outside under the trees, or some other place where you can be still for a few minutes each day to spend time with Him. As you spend time with Him, He will renew your spirit and restore your peace. A Prayer for Today "God, I want to find those qu...

Hang in There!

Image
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." (2 Corinthians 4:17, NKJV) Hang in There! Does there seem to be a problem waiting for you no matter where you turn? Do you sometimes wonder if your dreams are ever going to come to pass? Maybe you've asked why God would allow you to struggle in your job, your relationships, your health or some other area of life. Sometimes God allows us to go through challenges because He knows it's the struggle of life that builds strength in us. If God simply delivered us from every struggle, then we might not continue to grow and learn to trust Him. When you stretch your faith, endure, overcome and persevere through the difficult times, you'll begin to realize a greater level of joy, peace, victory and abundance than you ever dreamed possible. Remember, God loves you too much to leave you where you are. He's preparing you for somethi...

Jesus is the Best Friend You Can Ever Have

Image
Jesus is the Best Friend You Can Ever Have “ Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. ” (Revelation 3:20) We focus on our relationship with God. This verse from Revelation tells us how Jesus Christ desires to get to know us, much like a friend we would invite to join us for dinner. “ Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. ” (John 14:23) When someone makes their home with you, that is about as intimate a relationship as we can have. Not only is Jesus with us individually, but he is with us when we are gathered together as believers: “ For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”  (Matthew 18:20) That is relationship. One reason God wants us to have a relationship with him is so we can also have a proper relationship with other people. “ But if we are liv...
