Exodus 14:19-31!

Image
Introduction Exodus 14:19–31: The LORD divides the waters of the Red Sea; and with walls of water on both sides, the Israelites walk through the sea on dry ground. The pursing Egyptian army drowns when the water returns to its normal level. Today’s Key Verse: Exodus 14:31 GNT When the Israelites saw the great power with which the LORD had defeated the Egyptians, they stood in awe of the LORD, and they had faith in the LORD and in his servant Moses. Read 19  The angel of God, who had been in front of the army of Israel, moved and went to the rear. The pillar of cloud also moved until it was  20  between the Egyptians and the Israelites. The cloud made it dark for the Egyptians, but gave light to the people of Israel, [ a ]  and so the armies could not come near each other all night. 21  Moses held out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind. It blew all night and turned the sea into dry land. The water was d...

How to Tap Into God’s Power During the Storms of Life!

Image
How to Tap Into God’s Power During the Storms of Life Memorize and Meditate “ Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. ” (2 Corinthians 1:9) Soak your Heart Our only hope to live the Christian life rests in trusting God to provide the power to live in harmony with his will. Jesus told us that apart from him we can do nothing. We are spiritually bankrupt. Our eternal salvation is provided by trusting in Christ alone. In everyday life, salvation can only be worked out as we trust in him to live through us. We need to continually remind ourselves of this core understanding. Sow to the Spirit God’s power raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and that power is available to us as we learn to tap into it. As we commune with the Holy Spirit and allow him to control us, God’s grace overrides the power of sin. As we trust in him, his life flows through us, allowing us to partake of his all-powerful divine nature. Flo...

The Gift of Conviction!

Image
The Gift of Conviction “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.” — Psalm 139:23–24 In this psalm David was praying for the conviction of the Holy Spirit. That may seem like a strange thing to pray for, but hear me: the conviction of the Holy Spirit is a gift. David asked God to search his heart and show him if there was any wrong way in him and then cleanse him of anything that wasn’t of God. Conviction is a gift because when we open our hearts to let the Holy Spirit tell us the truth about ourselves and then choose to agree with what He says, He cleanses and transforms us. The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). So when the Holy Spirit shows us something about our heart or our thinking that is wrong, and we say, “Yes, Father God, save me, forgive me, wash me,...

Think O-I-L: Opportunity, Impact and Legacy!

Image
Think O-I-L:   Opportunity, Impact, Legacy Memorize and Meditate “ Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ” (Philippians 3:12–14) Soak your Heart We must constantly remind ourselves that we are in the process of dying to self so we can live for the Christ who died for us. As outlined in today’s verse, Christ has taken possession of us so we will not waste our time, talent, and treasure on perishable things and secular goals. In order to reach ahead, we have to let the past go. We can’t redo those days. Our goal is to be conformed to Christ and his will. Sow to the Spirit In your prayer life, think of the acronym, “O-I-L...

He Helps Us Carry Out Burdens!

Image
He Helps Us Carry Our Burdens “Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God who is our salvation. Selah.” — Psalm 68:19 Do you realize that every single day God is helping you carry your burdens? Have you ever started a day worried and agitated, then cried out to God, and a few hours later you realized the anxiety had lifted and you had peace in your heart? That happened because God was bearing your burden. Through Jesus, Father God was imparting His strength to you. Beloved one, Jesus really does help you bear your burdens. That is why He said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). If you are facing a difficult time in your marriage, with your finances, on your job, or in your family, remember that you are not alone. Jesus wants to help you bear those burdens. For the rest of your life God will be with you, no matter what you face. Nothing will be too much for you because the One who rose from the grave lives inside ...

We Must Die to Bear Fruit!

Image
We Must Die to Bear Fruit Memorize and Meditate “ Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. ” (1 Corinthians 5:7) Soak your Heart This is a tough passage. It means dying to self, and that can be a painful process; one that only the Spirit of God can bring about in us. “ Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain ” (John 12:24). When a grain dies, only then can it produce more grain. In the same manner, Jesus wants us to die to self so we can produce much fruit for him. This way, both he and the Father are glorified. Sow to the Spirit When you are in furnace of affliction, allow yourself to be trained by the ordeal. The sooner you accept the training, the sooner you’ll be placed in a position where God can bring you to the next green pasture or place of fulfillment. Flow wit...

The Counsel of the Holy Spirit!

Image
The Counsel of the Holy Spirit “The counsel of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will make His covenant known to them.” — Psalm 25:14, MEV So many times when I’ve needed direction, God has spoken to me supernaturally. Whether it was a slow, emerging awareness of what I should do; a sudden burst of supernatural anointing that brought insight; or a dream in the night, the Lord spoke to me with the spirit of counsel. I know this is why I have come so far since I accepted Yeshua as Messiah—because I have been upheld, consoled, and directed by the counsel of the Holy Spirit. I want to encourage you to believe that God will personally counsel you. Oftentimes God’s people are not receiving the fullness of the counsel the Father has for them because rather than looking to the Father, they are looking, first and almost exclusively, to their friends for counsel. In other words, when faced with a problem, rather than looking to God about the issue, rather than praying about it, ra...

Deep Thoughts to Remember!

Image
Deep Thoughts to Remember Memorize and Meditate “ Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do. ” (Ecclesiastes 11:9) “ Remember him before the door to life’s opportunities is closed and the sound of work fades… ” (Ecclesiastes 12:4) “ Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don’t wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well. ” (Ecclesiastes 12:6) Soak your Heart These are the words of King Solomon, the richest and wisest person who ever lived. He had everything. After pursuing every endeavor imaginable, he came to the above conclusions. REMEMBER is the word he used repeatedly. We are going to give an account to God. Life’s opportunities will come to an end. We are wise to  remember  our Creator before the “silv...

Be Bold For Jesus!

Image
Be Bold for Jesus “What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.” — Matthew 10:27 Friends, there is no such thing as a secret Christian. There is no such thing as a believer who never shares his faith. When Jesus was on this earth, one of the last instructions He gave was for us to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). That is the Great Commission, and it is for everyone. You and I have an assignment on the earth to be bold witnesses for Jesus. We are called to extend and expand the kingdom of God. Jesus said in today’s verse that we are to shout from the rooftops whatever He whispers in our ears. The apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:20 that we are Christ’s ambassadors, entreating the world to be reconciled to God. And Jesus said in Matthew 5:13–14 that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, so we ought to let our light shine. In these passages ...

God Rewards Those Who Seek Him!

Image
God Rewards Those Who Seek Him Memorize and Meditate “ And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. ” (Hebrews 11:6) Soak your Heart The first step in soaking our heart in God’s Word is to memorize and meditate on it. The above verse is one we want to sink ever-so-deeply into our heart. Faith in God’s existence is key in developing a living relationship with our Creator through the person of Jesus Christ. All of creation “screams” of his existence when we think of the complexity and vastness of the universe… when we contemplate the intricacies of the human body, including the fact that an eyeball has 2 million moving parts, and the eye can see 10 million colors. Only God could create something this complicated. Most importantly is the promise he rewards to those who seek him. Wow! I want that! So I will seek God! How do I do that? I immerse myself in his Word. Sow to the Sp...

God Rejoice Over You!

Image
God Rejoices Over You “The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” — Zephaniah 3:17 I think it can be hard for us as human beings who face tragedies and hardships to truly grasp how much God loves us. I know it is for me. We’re faced with so many challenges in this world. We see so much suffering around us, so many people in pain, so much divorce, so many people who have been betrayed in relationships. We are surrounded by darkness, and when we live in this world for long, we can become jaded by it. Then we read a verse like Zephaniah 3:17 that tells us the Lord loves us so much He is shouting over us. His banner over us is love (Song of Sol. 2:4). To believe God loves us with such abandon truly requires a paradigm shift that takes our eyes off the spiritual darkness we encounter in this world and onto the pure light of God’s supernatural love for us. Beloved...

Call on God and He Will Answer!

Image
Call on God and He Will Answer Memorize and Meditate “ ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ ” (Jeremiah 33:3) What a wonderful Spiritual M & M to memorize and meditate on! Almighty God says he will answer us if we call on him. Not only that, but he will show us great and mighty things we do not know. This is an incredible promise! Soak your Heart This is what I call a “Button Pusher” verse in that it stimulates me to do whatever is necessary to make the message personally operative in my life. In faith, I claim this promise from God. I want to soak, soak, and soak in this verse. Sow to the Spirit Pray this verse and recite it to God, saying you believe he will answer when you call in faith and in accordance with his will. Pray:   God, you have made this promise to me. I expect you to answer in your way and time. I am reading your Word discovering more about you, so I can ask for what is in accordance with your ...

Exodus 4:18-31

Image
Introduction Exodus 4:18–31: Moses returns to Egypt, taking his wife and sons with him. Aaron meets Moses in the desert, and together they return to Egypt to confront the king. Aaron gathers the Israelite leaders and tells them everything the LORD had said to Moses. Today’s Key Verse: Exodus 4:21a GNT Again the LORD said to Moses, “Now that you are going back to Egypt, be sure to perform before the king all the miracles which I have given you the power to do.” Read 18  Then Moses went back to Jethro, his father-in-law, and said to him, “Please let me go back to my relatives in Egypt to see if they are still alive.” Jethro agreed and told him good-bye. 19  While Moses was still in Midian, the Lord said to him, “Go back to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kill you are dead.”  20  So Moses took his wife and his sons, put them on a donkey, and set out with them for Egypt, carrying the walking stick that God had told him to take. 21  Again the...

Eat the Word!

Image
‘Eat’ the Word! Memorize and Meditate “ Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. ” (Jeremiah 15:16) This verse says something very important about the Word of God: Jeremiah ate the Word. It became his heart’s delight. That means he thought about it all the time. He SOAKED his heart in it! Soak your Heart Jeremiah sets the example for us. David said God’s Word was more precious to him than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. Job said he treasured God’s Word more than his necessary food. These men thought about God’s Word – perhaps more than they thought about anything else. God’s Word gives life. It cleanses. It gives light so we can see things from God’s perspective. It is living and powerful. It works in those who receive it and believe it. Sow to the Spirit Pray and recite today’s verse to the Lord. Emulate Job and David by treasuring God’s Word, and realizing the val...

Exodus 4:1-17 !

Image
Introduction Exodus 4:1–17: Moses continues to voice objections to his divine commission, prompting God to grant him miraculous powers and appoint Moses’s brother, Aaron, as his spokesperson. Today’s Key Verse: Exodus 4:11a, 12 GNT The LORD said to [Moses]: “Who gives man his mouth? … Now, go! I will help you to speak, and I will tell you what to say.” Read 4  Then Moses answered the Lord, “But suppose the Israelites do not believe me and will not listen to what I say. What shall I do if they say that you did not appear to me?” 2  So the Lord asked him, “What are you holding?” “A walking stick,” he answered. 3  The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” When Moses threw it down, it turned into a snake, and he ran away from it.  4  Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach down and pick it up by the tail.” So Moses reached down and caught it, and it became a walking stick again.  5  The Lord said, “Do this to ...

The Fountain of Life!

Image
The Fountain of Life Memorize and Meditate “ It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. ” (John 6:63) We need Jesus Christ’s Word for life, for they are the way the Spirit of God works inside of us. His Word is living and powerful, and it works inside those who receive it as the Word of God and trust it to work in them. In fact, when it is humbly planted in one’s heart, the Word of God is able to save the soul. Soak your Heart No wonder the Word tells us to desire the “milk” of the Word as newborn babes so we can grow up in our salvation. Without food a baby cannot grow. Without the Word of God we cannot grow in the knowledge and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. As we soak our heart in the Word of God, we grow from the increase that comes from God. Sow to the Spirit Let us acknowledge in our prayers that it is God’s Word that gives power for living the Christian life. Let us acknowledge that our flesh, i...
