Divine Satisfaction!

Image
Divine Satisfaction “All things are wearisome; man is not able to tell it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear filled with hearing.” — Ecclesiastes 1:8 The things of the world can never fully satisfy. Now, I know that when we were young and we experienced things for the first time in life, that did feel satisfying, didn’t it? I remember as a young person experiencing so many things for the first time and thinking life was such an adventure. The thing is, as we get older, those things are no longer new, and when the newness wears off, we find that the eye is not satisfied because it has already seen so much. The ear is not satisfied because it has already heard so much. The only place we find satisfaction that will increase and endure is in God. Finding satisfaction is what the whole Book of Ecclesiastes is about. The story of Ecclesiastes is that the king went on a journey to satisfy himself, and he went after everything the world had to offer. He went after weal...

Weave a Pattern of Gratitude!

Image
Weave a Pattern of Gratitude Scripture: Psalm 50:23 “ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.” (Psalm 50:23) Isn’t it nice when people express gratitude to you and perhaps, even praise you for something you have done for them? Gratitude and praise strengthen our relationships. In the same way, our relationship with God is strengthened as we express our gratitude and praise to him. I am working at weaving a pattern of expressing gratitude and praise to God throughout all areas of my life. Even when things aren’t going right, I look for something in my daily experience to thank God for. “ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. ” (Psalm 69:30) If you have not been practicing praise and gratitude, why not start now, and see what happens? “ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, w...

Seize God’s Word!

Image
Seize God’s Word “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” —Isaiah 40:8 Many years ago the Lord spoke to me audibly. This doesn’t happen to me all the time, but it has happened a few times in my life, including on this particular occasion. I clearly heard the Lord say, “Seize My Word and don’t let anything else in.” The word felt like a river of fire rolling through my soul. It was so powerful, yet I struggled with what God said. I asked Him, “What are You saying to me, Lord? How do I seize Your Word?” I thought, “This is Your Word right here, the Bible, and it is a big book. How do I seize the whole thing?” I couldn’t quite wrap my head around what God was saying. But after some time this is what I came to realize. The grass withers, and the flowers fade—temporary circumstances of life come and go—but the Word in us will abide, and it will enable us to stand and be victorious in life. When we seize the Word, we won’t allow ourselves to be moved by ...

Saved to Do Good Works!

Image
Saved to Do Good Works Scripture: Titus 2:14, NKJV “… Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. ” (Titus 2:14) Good works do not save us. I want to be very clear about this. We are not saved “ by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ” (Titus 3:5–7) The work of salvation has been done by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. We are justified or made acceptable to God when we receive, as a  gift , the salvation he has provided through Christ. We trust in him alone for our salvation. However, we are saved to  do  the good works he has appointed for us to do. “ This is a faithful saying, and the...

The Deep Fellowship of His Love!

Image
The Deep Fellowship of His Love “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” —Jeremiah 29:12–13 This is a beautiful passage of Scripture. It reminds us that when we seek God, we will find Him. Jesus said something similar in John 14:21–23: “He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.” Jesus was saying in essence, if you love Me, keep My Word, and obey Me, you’ll be loved by My Father, and you’ll experience Our presence and Our love for you. These verses in Jeremiah and in ...

Does Your Conduct Contradict or Confirm Your Faith in God?

Image
Does Your Conduct Contradict or Confirm Your Faith in God? Scripture: Titus 2:10 “… Not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. ” (Titus 2:10) Christianity is not a list of  do s and  don’t s or an intellectual belief in the tenets of the Christian faith. True faith is having a  personal relationship  with God through the person of Jesus Christ. We have been born again to a living hope, a relationship with the risen Savior who lives in and through the life of each believer. That being the case, Scripture exhorts us to be good examples of the relationship we proclaim: “ Let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel… ” (Philippians 1:27) If we are to be effective representatives of Christianity, our conduct canno...

Mathew 16:1-12!

Image
Introduction Matthew 16:1–12: When some Pharisees and Sadducees ask Jesus to perform a miracle, he challenges the legitimacy of their request. He then warns his disciples to guard themselves from the dishonest teachings of these religious leaders. Today’s Key Verse: Matthew 16:11 GNT [Jesus said]: “How is it that you don’t understand that I was not talking about bread? Guard yourselves from the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!” Read 16  Some Pharisees and Sadducees who came to Jesus wanted to trap him, so they asked him to perform a miracle for them, to show that God approved of him.  2  But Jesus answered, “When the sun is setting, you say, ‘We are going to have fine weather, because the sky is red.’  3  And early in the morning you say, ‘It is going to rain, because the sky is red and dark.’ You can predict the weather by looking at the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs concerning these times! [ a ]   4  How evil and godless are the...

What is Written on the Tablet of Your Heart?

Image
What is Written on the Tablet of Your Heart? Scripture: Proverbs 3:3–4 “ Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, and so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man. ” (Proverbs 3:3–4) Have you ever thought about what is written on the tablet of your heart? In KingdomNomics, we stress the importance of  soaking our heart  in the Word of God. The heart is like a sponge; it soaks up whatever is around it, and that becomes the treasure of our heart. If the water is dirty, then the treasure is dirty. If the water is clear and pure, then the treasure of the heart will be pure and clear. The Word confirms this: “ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. ” (Luke 6:45) Whatever this “abundance of the heart” is will manifest itself in my life. People w...

Mathew 15:21-39!

Image
Introduction Matthew 15:21–39: In today’s reading, Jesus travels to the territory near the Gentile cities of Tyre and Sidon, north of Galilee, inhabited by people who were not Jewish. He encounters a Canaanite woman who begs him to heal her daughter. From there, he travels along the shore of Lake Galilee, where many were brought to him for healing. The reading concludes with Jesus feeding over 4,000 people with seven loaves and a few small fish. Today’s Key Verse: Matthew 15:28a GNT So Jesus answered her, “You are a woman of great faith! What you want will be done for you.” Read 21  Jesus left that place and went off to the territory near the cities of Tyre and Sidon.  22  A Canaanite woman who lived in that region came to him. “Son of David!” she cried out. “Have mercy on me, sir! My daughter has a demon and is in a terrible condition.” 23  But Jesus did not say a word to her. His disciples came to him and begged him, “Send her away! She is following us and m...

What Happened When WeAsk For God’s Favor!

Image
What Happens When We Ask for God’s Favor Scripture: Psalm 90:17 “ May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands. ” (Psalm 90:17) Our relationship with God through Christ means life, favor, and reward! We all want to experience a full and meaningful life. The Scripture tells us we can experience the favor of God if we establish the right kind of relationship with him. The favor of God is available to us. He also tells us about rewards that can come from such a relationship. Those of us who practice Kingdom of God are converting our perishable  time, talent, and treasure into the imperishable values of the Kingdom. We have discovered this great secret of the kingdom. We have found life, favor, and reward already. Futhermore, we are anticipating much more in the life to come. Therefore, we pray that the favor of God will rest on us. Power belongs to God. He is the one who can change circumstances. He is...

God Will Provide!

Image
God Will Provide “I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, “At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God.”” —Exodus 16:12 After God delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, He led them to the Promised Land through the wilderness. Along the way, the people began to grumble about not having enough to eat, and God responded to their complaints by supernaturally meeting their needs. You may know the story. God provided quail in the evening, and supernatural manna appeared on the ground each morning. This happened six days a week for forty years. God provided for the Israelites in this way the entire time they wandered in the wilderness. When they entered the Promised Land, the supernatural manna stopped. But while they were in the wilderness and had no other means of support, God fed them with heavenly manna and divinely supplied meat. This happened thousands o...

The Most Powerful Relationship Possible!

Image
The Most Powerful Relationship Possible Scripture: Revelation 3:20 “ Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. ” (Revelation 3:20) In Kingdom of God we focus on our  relationship with God . This verse from Revelation assures us that Jesus Christ will come into our life, just like we would have a friend over for dinner. And yet, our relationship with Jesus is even more powerful than human friendships: “ Jesus replied, ‘All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.’  ” (John 14:23) You can’t get much more intimate than making your home with someone! Not only is Jesus with us individually, but he is with us when we are gathered together as believers. “ For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. ” (Matthew 18:20) One reason Jesus wants us to have a relationship with him is s...

Keep Trusting God!

Image
Keep Trusting God “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.” —Titus 3:5 So many people never feel secure in their walk with God. They think that somehow their salvation depends on their works, but Paul wrote in Titus 3 that God saved us not on the basis of our deeds but according to His mercy through the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit. Many times we think we realize this, but our actions tell a different story. I have seen so many people start off right. They hear the gospel message and accept Jesus as their Savior. But once they start going to church, they are told they should do this and they shouldn’t do that. Soon what was begun in the mercy of God as they yielded to the Lord, they now try to perfect by good works. Galatians 3:3 says that what was begun in the Spirit, we should not try to perfect with the flesh. We need to keep trusting God, to...

See,I Am Doing a New Thing!

Image
See, I Am Doing a New Thing Scripture: Isaiah 43:18–19 “ Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. ” (Isaiah 43:18–19) A friend of mine has stated that things come to pass, but not to stay. God is always moving and creating. We definitely live in a world of change! We are counseled not to dwell in the past. We are to put God in remembrance. I call this the “God Factor.” God is always doing something new – giving us new opportunities, opening doors, closing doors, and intervening in our circumstances. The question is:  Will we recognize and take proper advantage of these “new things [that] spring forth?” This passage also reflects another great truth. We serve the God of provision. He makes the road in the wilderness for us to follow, and he provides the rivers in the desert to give us drink or to meet ou...

The Greatest Victory!

Image
The Greatest Victory “Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” —Colossians 3:14 Throughout his letters Paul tells us that love is above all else. Yet for many years as a young believer I didn’t think much about love. I just thought about conquering. You know how men can be; we like to conquer, and as believers in Yeshua we are given power to conquer in life—to overcome trials, temptations, and the powers of darkness. But that is not our greatest strength. The greatest gift we have been given is the ability to love. I want to encourage you today to think about this: if we are not walking in love, we are not abiding in Yeshua, because He is love. One of our missions as followers of Christ is to overcome evil with good, and the greatest good of all is love. In life there’s so much division, so much criticism, so much accusation. But criticism and accusation are not from the Lord. They are from the enemy. Love brings people together. If you can walk i...

Faith: More Valuable Than Gold!

Image
Faith: More Valuable than Gold Scripture: 1 Peter 1:7 “… The genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ… ” (1 Peter 1:7) This revelation of Scripture is in direct opposition to what the world says. In Kingdom of God, we agree with this statement of truth. We are concerned with converting our perishable time, talent, and treasure into the imperishable values of advancing the kingdom of God, which will last forever! Think about gold or money. What is the most it can do? Worldly wealth can buy perishable things such as power, pleasure, and more stuff. From an eternal point of view, wealth is valuable only if we “convert it” into the imperishable, such as winning friends for eternity by helping people trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior or meeting their physical and material needs in his name. Now think about what faith can “buy...
