God’s Power Factor!

Image
God’s Power Factor Memorize and Meditate “ Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. ” (1 John 4:4) Soak your Heart God has made such power available to us through the gospel. That power is the preaching of the cross: Christ—the power of God—is in us. God wants us to experience Christ’s resurrection power. God wants us to comprehend the incredible greatness of his power toward us who believe—the same power he worked when he raised Christ from the dead. This power operates in our lives as we learn how to tap into it. Sow to the Spirit This “power” passage helps us expand our vision of God. As we understand that all power is sourced in God, we realize that nothing is too difficult for him to handle. Practice Beginning right now, claim this “power” verse as you walk with your Lord by faith.

Acts 16:26-14!

Image
Introduction Acts 16:16–40: Paul and Silas are beaten and put in jail after freeing a girl from enslavement to an evil spirit. While in jail, they sing and pray, and a powerful earthquake opens the jail doors. Paul and Silas do not leave, and the jailer becomes a believer. Today’s Key Verse: Acts 16:25 GNT About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Read 16  One day as we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a young servant woman who had an evil spirit that enabled her to predict the future. She earned a lot of money for her owners by telling fortunes.  17  She followed Paul and us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God! They announce to you how you can be saved!”  18  She did this for many days, until Paul became so upset that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I order you to come out of her!” The spirit went out of he...

Playing to an Audience of One!

Image
Playing to an Audience of One Scripture: Psalm 44:3 “ For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them. ” (Psalm 44:3) The world elevates those whom it proclaims are “self-made” individuals. Many of these people bask in the glory given to them. In reality, all of life is sourced in God. Psalm 44:3 shows believers that we are not self-sufficient people who can claim successes of our own making. The Lord makes it clear that possession of the Promised Land didn’t come from anything his people did, but from the hand of the Lord. Therefore, any glory should go only to God. This principle is proclaimed throughout Scripture. The Lord blesses his people in various ways, and he warns us not to forget him when things seem to be going right. He reminds us that it is only by his provision that we can enjoy life in this world. When the Lord blesses...

The Path That Leads to Life!

Image
The Path That Leads to Life “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” — Proverbs 9:10 We live in a Christian culture that has begun to stress grace to such a degree that we are afraid to talk about the fear of the Lord. But I want you to know, beloved, that the grace of God is not opposed to the fear of the Lord. In fact to fear the Lord is actually a gift of God’s grace because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This is why the psalmist said, “Let all the earth fear the Lord….Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him” (Ps. 33:8, 18). In the Book of Romans, which is the most precise theological treatise in the entire New Testament, the apostle Paul shows humankind that we are guilty before God and in danger of eternal death. It is only after Paul points out that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God that he presents the solution: Yeshua (Rom. 3:23–24). But today we don’t want t...

Turn Challenge into Opportunities to Trust God!

Image
Turn Challenges into Opportunities to Trust God Scripture: Hebrews 12:2 “…Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ” (Hebrews 12:2) Problems, challenges, and changing circumstances are part of living. One of the most difficult lessons believers must learn is to fix our eyes on Jesus Christ instead of focusing on the problem we face. Fixing our eyes on the problem is debilitating. It leads to depression. In fact, when all we think about is our problem, we can make an idol of the problem. Jesus did not focus on the cross, its shame, and the humiliation coming from the soldiers and crowd. He focused on the joy, the eternal, and the ultimate results that would come from his sacrifice. We have the promise, “ I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. ” (Psalm 32:8) We serve the God ...

Trials Are A Gift!

Image
Trials Are a Gift “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” — James 1:2–4 James said to consider it joy when you are facing trials, because the testing of your faith produces endurance and makes you complete in Him. You see, beloved, trials are God’s gift to us to make us strong. It’s just like when people are getting in shape physically. In order to build their physical muscles, they have to face resistance. That’s why weight training is also called resistance training. Pushing past our comfort zones increases our capacity. So whether in the natural or in the spirit, the way to grow stronger is to face resistance. That is why James says to consider it joy when we face trials. Those trials serve to bring us into a deeper peace in Jesus. They make us complete. Every day, all day long, life is...

Weave a Pattern of Gratitude to God!

Image
Weave a Pattern of Gratitude to God Scripture: Psalm 50:23 “ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.” (Psalm 50:23) When someone thanks you for what you’ve done, it’s a nice feeling. Expressions of gratitude strengthen our relationships. The same is true with our relationship with God; praising God and expressing gratitude enhances our relationship with Him. Throughout all the areas of my life, I am working at weaving a pattern of expressing gratitude to God. I praise him for allowing me to experience the beauty of his creation. Even when things aren’t going as I’d want them to, I always look for a way to thank God. “ I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. ” (Psalm 69:30) If you haven’t developed a habit of praising God, why not start now, and see what happens? In conjunction with praising God, we must conduct ourselves properly under the umbrella of his will. “ I beseech ...

Tell Him You Need Him!

Image
Tell Him You Need Him “But when Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire compassion, and not sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”” — Matthew 9:12–13 It may seem obvious, but today’s passage reveals an important truth: Jesus just wants us to recognize that we need Him. He did not come for the righteous but for sinners; He came for those who know they are sick. This tells us, beloved, that we do not have to be perfect to go before God. He already knows we’re not perfect. Jesus loves and accepts you just as you are. His death on the cross built a bridge that enables you to receive the fullness of the Father’s love right where you are. God is never going to love you any more or less than He loves you right now. But please hear me when I say this: He loves you and me too much to leave us where we are. He wants to conform us to the image of His dea...

Good Works do Not Save Us. We are Saved to Do Good Works!

Image
Good Works do Not Save Us. We are Saved to Do Good Works Scripture: Titus 2:14 “ Jesus Christ gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. ” (Titus 2:14) We have been saved to do good works. Let’s be very clear about this.  Good works do not save us.  We are not saved “ by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ” (Titus 3:5–7) The work of salvation has been done by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. We are justified (made acceptable to God) by receiving as a  gift  the salvation he has provided through Christ. However, we are saved to do the good works he has appointed for us. “ This is a fai...

God Loves You More Than You Know!

Image
God Loves You More Than You Know “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”” — Galatians 4:6, NKJV The Bible says we have received the spirit of adoption by which we cry out, “Abba, Father” (Rom. 8:15). It is important for us to recognize that God is not just some Being in the sky somewhere whom we can pray to when we have a need. No, He saved you and me to bring us into a son/daughter relationship with Him. When the Father brought us to Himself, He placed us in Jesus. And because you and I are in Jesus, we are God’s sons and daughters. Can you comprehend the magnitude of that? Think about this: All the Father’s love is focused on Jesus—He is the Son of God. Jesus is in the bosom of the Father, and it has always been that way. All the Father’s love is focused on Him, but you are now in Jesus, and because of that all His love is focused on you in like manner. I want you to know today, beloved, that the Father loves y...

What it Means to ‘ Adorn the Doctrine of God’!

Image
What it Means to ‘Adorn the Doctrine of God’ Scripture: Titus 2:10 “ …Not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. ” (Titus 2:10) True faith is having a relationship with God through the person of Jesus Christ. Christianity is not a list of  do s and  don’t s or an intellectual belief in the tenets of the Christian faith. We have been born again to a living hope – a relationship with the risen Savior who lives in and through the life of the believer. That being the case, Scripture exhorts us to be good examples of what we proclaim: “ Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel. ” (Philippians 1:27) Our daily conduct cannot contradict what we say we believe in. We live in a difficult environment, and it is critical ...

Don’t Live For Yourself!

Image
Don’t Live for Yourself “Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” —Deuteronomy 7:9 Beloved, your walk with God affects more than just you. This is what the Torah is telling us in Deuteronomy 7:9. When we who have influence over other people’s lives are walking with God, the blessing on our lives spills down into the lives of those around us. In this particular scripture the Lord is speaking about generational blessing. But I believe that in a more general way God uses each of us to bring sanctification, if not entirely then partially, to those who are close to us. This is evident in the New Testament when the apostle Paul says a believer who is married to an unbeliever can be a source of sanctification for the unbelieving spouse (1 Cor. 7:13–14). Your relationship with God has a much bigger impact than you probably think. You are ...

What is Written on the Tablet of Your Heart?

Image
What is Written on the Tablet of Your Heart? Scripture: Proverbs 3:3-4 “ Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, and so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man. ” (Proverbs 3:3–4) Have you ever thought about what is written on the tablet of your heart? In Kingdom of God we stress the importance of soaking the heart in the Word of God. The heart is like a sponge; it soaks up whatever is around it. Whatever we soak it in becomes the treasure of our heart. If the water is dirty, then the treasure is dirty. If the water is clear and pure, then the treasure of the heart will be pure and clear. The Word confirms this: “ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. ” (Luke 6:45) What is the “abundance” found in your heart? Whatever it is will manifest itself ...

Acts 4:23-5:11!

Image
Introduction Acts 4:23—5:11: Peter and John return to the other followers and report what the Council had said. The believers come together and pray for boldness to speak the Lord’s message. They continue to meet, pray, and share their possessions so that no one would be in need. Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, sell some property but withhold a portion of the money for themselves and lie about giving the entire amount to the apostles for the community of believers. Peter confronts the couple, who then die, and all who hear about their deaths are terrified. Today’s Key Verse: Acts 4:31b GNT They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to proclaim God’s message with boldness. Read 23  As soon as Peter and John were set free, they returned to their group and told them what the chief priests and the elders had said.  24  When the believers heard it, they all joined together in prayer to God: “Master and Creator of heaven, earth, and sea, and all that is in them!...

Pray for the Favor of God to Rest on You!

Image
Pray for the Favor of God to Rest on You Scripture: Psalm 90:17 “ May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands. ” (Psalm 90:17) Our relationship with God through Christ means LIFE, FAVOR, and REWARD! We all want to experience a full and meaningful life. The Scripture tells us we can experience the favor of God if we establish the right kind of relationship with him. He also tells us about rewards that can come from such a relationship. Those who practice Kingdom of God and become yield-active  converterlators  (converting our perishable time, talent, and treasure in to the imperishable values of the Kingdom), have discovered this great secret of the kingdom. We have found life, favor, and reward already. And we are anticipating much more in the life to come. Therefore, we pray that the favor of God will rest on us. Power belongs to God. He is the one who can change circumstances. He is the one ...

Acts 4:1-22

Image
Introduction Acts 4:1–22: The religious leaders arrest and question Peter and John for teaching about Jesus and his resurrection. The Council warns them to stop preaching about Jesus and then releases them. Today’s Key Verse: Acts 4:11 GNT [Peter said]: “Jesus is the one of whom the scripture says, ‘The stone that you the builders despised turned out to be the most important of all.’” Read 4  Peter and John were still speaking to the people when some priests, [ a ]  the officer in charge of the Temple guards, and some Sadducees arrived.  2  They were annoyed because the two apostles were teaching the people that Jesus had risen from death, which proved that the dead will rise to life.  3  So they arrested them and put them in jail until the next day, since it was already late.  4  But many who heard the message believed; and the number grew to about five thousand. 5  The next day the Jewish leaders, the elders, and the teachers of the ...
