How to Develop a Vision of Life!

Image
How to Develop a Vision of Life Scripture: Proverbs 29:18, and Psalm 90:12 “ Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he. ” (Proverbs 29:18) “ Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. ” (Psalm 90:12) In KingdomNomics, we emphasize the wisdom of converting the perishable time, talent and treasure of this world into the imperishable values of the real world to come: eternity. In Psalm 90:12, we are taught to number our days in order to gain a heart of wisdom. The time will come when we will turn in the temporary body we are “leasing” during our life on earth. We do not have unlimited time to make decisions. How many people do you know who have no purpose? Failure to develop a personal vision of life will result in a disaster from an eternal standpoint. Proverbs 29:18 says that people without a proper vision of life perish. There is one appointment none of us will miss. That is the time when we must give an accounting...

Purpose in the Pain!

Image
Purpose in the Pain “The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold….The Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.” —Job 42:10, 12 You probably know many people who have biblical names—Jacob, Daniel, Joshua, Luke, John, Esther, Ruth, Deborah, Mary. There are even people named Israel. But one biblical name I’ve never heard a parent give their child is Job. Many of us know the story of Job. The book begins by saying Job was the most righteous and wealthy man of all the people of the East. He was a pillar in the Lord, and it was clear that God had blessed him. But one day when the angels of the Lord appeared before HaShem, Satan appeared along with them. And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man” (Job 1:8). “Yes,” Satan replied, “but You protect him. No wonder he loves You! Stretch forth Your hand against ...

Give Generously!

Image
Give Generously Scripture: 1 Chronicles 29:14–16 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. We are foreigners and strangers in your sight, as were all our ancestors. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a temple for your Holy Name comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you. ” We can take to heart the remarks King David made as he neared the end of his life. David summarizes exactly what our situation is, and the perspective we should have. He acknowledges that God is the source of all wealth. Everything comes from God, and any giving we do is returning what has come from his hand. “ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. ” (Deutero...

Doors of Bronze!

Image
“I will go before you and level the exalted places, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.” Isaiah 45:2 Doors of Bronze Just because a door is shut in your life doesn’t mean that it’s permanent. You may not have seen what you’re believing for yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. A door may have been closed for a long time, and it seems as though it’s never going to happen. But God breaks in pieces closed doors, and He can do it in a supernatural way. You don’t have to struggle and try to make it happen on your own. You just keep honoring God, being your best, and doors of bronze will open for you. Trust His timing. Don’t be impatient because the door hasn’t opened yet. God knows what He’s doing. He sees every injustice, every time you are treated wrong, every person who is playing politics and trying to hold you down. Stay in peace. Your time is coming. The right people are coming. Problems that look permanent are about ...

The Transforming Process!

Image
The Transforming Process Scripture: Luke 16:9, NIV and Ecclesiastes 2:10–11 “ I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. ” (Luke 16:9) “ Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart rejoiced in all my labor; and this was my reward from all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and on the labor in which I had toiled; and indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun. ” (Ecclesiastes 2:10–11) In the first verse Jesus tells us how to use worldly wealth. In the second scripture we see the disillusionment of King Solomon during the period when he sought to experience every worldly pleasure, build great works, accumulate gold and silver, and pursue wisdom and knowledge. He concluded that all of this activity was a grasping for the wind; there was no profit under the sun....

Contentment!

Image
But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Timothy 6:6 Contentment Heathy people are content people. They’re grateful to be alive, grateful to have a job, grateful for their family and friends. Sometimes it’s the subtle things that can plant seeds of discontentment. It starts when we make the mistake of comparing our life to somebody else’s. What they seem to have may look like they’re ahead of you, that they’re better off, that you got shortchanged and are at a disadvantage. Comparing will cause you to be disgruntled. But we forget that somebody else has it worse than us. Somebody would gladly take that spouse of yours who you’ve gotten sour on. Somebody would love to have your house, your job, your children. Don’t let what someone else has stir you into being sour, ungrateful, and upset. Run your own race. You have to put your foot down and say, “I will not let seeds of discontentment take root in my life. I will not let that poison get in my spirit. I am grateful and bles...

What Question Would You Ask Jesus!

Image
What Question Would You Ask Jesus? Scripture: Matthew 20:32–34, NKJV and Jeremiah “ So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ They said to Him, ‘Lord, that our eyes may be opened.’ So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him. ” (Matthew 20:32–34) “ Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.’”  (Jeremiah 1:12) If Jesus Christ were to stop by your home, what one question would ask him? I believe today’s passages suggest a question that should be high on our priority list: Lord, please open our eyes so we can know you better; see and understand your will for us in the time we have remaining in this world. In our relationship with the Lord, we receive one revelation after another so we can understand what he wants us to do. “ I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdo...

You’re Already Counted In!

Image
Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The LORD has not chosen these.” 1 Samuel 16:10 You’re Already Counted In When the prophet Samuel came to Jesse’s house to pick out one of his sons as the next king of Israel, Jesse lined up seven of his sons and said, “All right, Samuel, take your pick.” He hadn’t bothered to bring his youngest son, David, in from the shepherds’ fields. He had already ruled David out, thinking, “He’s too small, too young, not talented. He’s not king material.” This would have been a problem if people have the final say. But when people leave you out, it may be hurtful but it doesn’t stop your purpose. People may have counted you out, but don’t worry. God has already counted you in. He overrides what people say. He overrides the injustice. Samuel said, “Jesse, I don’t see the king in these seven sons. Do you have any other sons?” Like with David, you’re going to be called into the house and be anointed. God hasn’t forgotten about y...

Two Lessons From King Uzziah to Pirsue - and Avoid!

Image
Two Lessons from King Uzziah to Pursue – and Avoid Scripture: 2 Chronicles 26:5 “ He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success. ” We learn two great lessons from the life of King Uzziah, who reigned in Judah for a long period of time. We want to pursue the first lesson, but avoid the second lesson like the plague. This is particularly true if we practice KingdomNomics and are in a leadership position. It is written, “ He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah had done. He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success. ” (2 Chronicles 26:4–5) This is the formula for success.  Success comes from the Lord.  God gave Uzziah success in response for his having sought the Lord. “ The Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah, and his fame spread as far as the border of Egypt, be...

Genesis 46:28-47:12!

Image
Introduction Genesis 46:28—47:12: Joseph is reunited with his father. Joseph uses his knowledge of Egypt to help his family find a good place to live, and Jacob and his family settle in Egypt in the region of Goshen, the northeastern part of Egypt in the Nile Delta. Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 46:29b When they met, Joseph threw his arms around his father’s neck and cried for a long time. Read 28  Jacob sent Judah ahead to ask Joseph to meet them in Goshen. When they arrived,  29  Joseph got in his chariot and went to Goshen to meet his father. When they met, Joseph threw his arms around his father's neck and cried for a long time.  30  Jacob said to Joseph, “I am ready to die, now that I have seen you and know that you are still alive.” 31  Then Joseph said to his brothers and the rest of his father's family, “I must go and tell the king that my brothers and all my father's family, who were living in Canaan, have come to me.  32  I will tell...

Build on the Right Foundation!

Image
Build on the Right Foundation Scripture: Jeremiah 2:13 “ My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. ” From an eternal perspective, it is critical we build on the right foundation. And that foundation is Jesus Christ. Because we live in a deceptive world, it is possible to be diverted and go off mission. The passage from Jeremiah reminds us we must root ourselves in the person of Jesus Christ. He is the source of life that sustains and endures. Just as in the days of Jeremiah, many people today have abandoned the fountain of living water. Instead, they seek satisfaction in the perishable values of this world. “… for Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. ” (2 Timothy 4:10) The love of this world is the lure that can lead to destruction and the loss of eternal reward. Families ge...

Genesis 46:1-27!

Image
Genesis 46:1–27: Jacob and his family prepare to relocate to Egypt. Today’s reading lists the names of the children and grandchildren who accompanied Jacob, grouped by their descent from Jacob’s four wives. Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 46:3 [God said to Jacob:] “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go to Egypt; I will make your descendants a great nation there.” Read 46  Jacob packed up all he had and went to Beersheba, where he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.  2  God spoke to him in a vision at night and called, “Jacob, Jacob!” “Yes, here I am,” he answered. 3  “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go to Egypt; I will make your descendants a great nation there.  4  I will go with you to Egypt, and I will bring your descendants back to this land. Joseph will be with you when you die.” 5  Jacob set out from Beersheba. His sons put him, their small children, and their wives i...
