Relationship Are Sacred!

Image
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” John 13:34 Relationships Are Sacred Our relationships are sacred. God gives us people in life to love, and to love them as Jesus loved us. Don’t treat them as though they’re ordinary, just common. They’re a priceless gift from God. He has entrusted you with His most valuable possessions, people whom He made in His own image, people whom He calls masterpieces. Don’t throw around hurtful words, say things that wound, degrade, and make them feel unvaluable. Use your words to lift, to encourage, to push people forward, not to set them back.  When we recognize that something is sacred, we should treat it with more respect. Every person is one of a kind. We have to be extra careful to make sure we never damage them. But sometimes we mishandle the sacred. We let pressure and stress cause us to let our guard down and not treat people the way we should. You may ha...

New Life at Work!

Image
New Life at Work Scriptures: Galatians 2:20, Romans 6:11 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ” (Galatians 2:20) “In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. ” (Romans 6:11) Christ can live and continue his ministry through us while we are still in this world. These two verses encapsulate these “secrets” of the kingdom to us. If we grasp these truths, in faith, our lives will be in for radical change. We can become “overcomers,” no longer helpless victims enslaved to sin. We must be crucified with Christ, counting ourselves dead to sin. Yes, sin lurks inside of us, always trying to reassert itself. But the good news is we no longer have to surrender to its control. The following verses verify this spiritual truth: “Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, ...

The Coming One!

Image
“For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.” Hebrews 10:37 The Coming One It’s significant that right after the writer of Hebrews talked about having patient endurance when it comes to the promises of God, he refers to God as the Coming One. This is saying that while you’re waiting, while thoughts of doubt are trying to talk you out of it, you need to have this image of God as the Coming One. He is not the delayed one, not the forgot-about-you one, not the you-don’t-deserve-it one, not the it’s-too-late one. Have a new perspective. The God we serve is coming with healing, coming with favor, coming with salvation for your children, coming with that dream He put in your heart, coming with freedom for your loved one, coming with abundance for your family. Thoughts will tell you, “It’s never going to happen.” No, the Coming One is already on the way with whatever you need. When you know this, it’s easy to wait with expectancy. It’s easy to believe when you do...

The Roots of Hope!

Image
The Roots of Hope Scripture: Habakkuk 3:17–19 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments. ” From a circumstantial standpoint, the prophet Habakkuk lived in a terrible time. The land was soon to be invaded and, because of the disobedience of the people to God over time, prosperity was no more. Even though the circumstances were bad, Habakkuk gives us the formula for not only surviving but also thriving in such a period. The above passage shows us that Habakkuk did not allow circumstances to steal his joy. It is an example for us that our joy and happiness have to be based on more than just having...

Genesis 42:25-38!

Image
Introduction Genesis 42:25–38: Joseph arranges to have his brothers’ sacks filled with grain, along with the money they had brought. The brothers return home and tell their father that they are to return to Egypt with their youngest brother. Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 42:35 When they emptied out their sacks, every one of them found his bag of money; and when they saw the money, they and their father Jacob were afraid. Read 25  Joseph gave orders to fill his brothers' packs with grain, to put each man's money back in his sack, and to give them food for the trip. This was done.  26  The brothers loaded their donkeys with the grain they had bought, and then they left.  27  At the place where they spent the night, one of them opened his sack to feed his donkey and found his money at the top of the sack.  28  “My money has been returned to me,” he called to his brothers. “Here it is in my sack!” Their hearts sank, and in fear they asked one another, ...

Wake Up!

Image
Wake Up! Scripture: Jonah 1:6 “The captain went to him and said, ‘How can you sleep? Get up and call on your god! Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish.’ ”   How many Christians are living like this world is our final resting place, forgetting we are on mission with a spiritual battle raging all around us? The storms and turmoil we daily witness are the outward manifestations of what is going on behind the scenes in the spiritual world that we cannot see. Jonah had fallen asleep in the bowels of the ship while those above were in fear of their lives in the midst of a great storm. Jonah was on a detour of his own by disobeying the instructions from God to go to Nineveh to preach repentance. Basically, he was following his own agenda and not God’s. He ultimately came to realize,  “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.”  (Jonah 2:8) Jesus asked the same question of his disciples,  “ ‘Why are you sleeping?’...

Genesis 42:1-24!

Image
Introduction Genesis 42:1–24: The famine is widespread and extends to Canaan. Jacob sends his sons, except for Benjamin, to Egypt to buy grain. When they arrive, Joseph recognizes them but pretends not to know them. He accuses them of being spies and agrees to spare their lives if they will return with their youngest brother. Today’s Key Verse: Genesis 42:5 The sons of Jacob came with others to buy grain, because there was famine in the land of Canaan. Read 42 When Jacob learned that there was grain in Egypt, he said to his sons, “Why don't you do something?  2  I hear that there is grain in Egypt; go there and buy some to keep us from starving to death.”  3  So Joseph's ten half brothers went to buy grain in Egypt,  4  but Jacob did not send Joseph's full brother Benjamin with them, because he was afraid that something might happen to him. 5  The sons of Jacob came with others to buy grain, because there was famine in the land of Canaan....

Shine Like the Sun!

Image
Shine Like the Sun Scripture: Colossians 3:3 “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”   I once heard a preacher say, “Whatever you have will blow off on the way up or burn up on the way down.” There is truth in that statement. When you die and go to heaven, the cares and things of this world will have no impact whatsoever. That should make a big impact on us! The Psalmist realized this when he wrote,  “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”  (Psalm 73:25–26) Our inheritance is Jesus Christ. Someday we will be just like him.  “As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.”  (Psalm 17:15) Not only will we be satisfied, but we also will be ecstatic! “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known....

Love and Loyalty!

Image
Don’t lose your grip on Love and Loyalty. Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart. Earn a reputation for living well in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people. Proverbs 3:3–4 Love and Loyalty Oluwafemi, most people say that at some point in their life, it’s hard to stay committed to their marriage, to their dream, to their job, to a friend. It’s been said that halfway through on the road to your destiny, you’ll feel like giving up. Some people give in and go back when it’s no longer exciting, growing, and going their way. The other people stay committed and keep moving forward no matter how they’re feeling. The dreams God has put in your heart, the promises you’re standing on, may be taking longer than you thought. You don’t see any sign of it happening. That’s a test. Are you going to get discouraged and give up on what you’re believing for? Stay committed and loyal when your relationships are troubled. Keep doing the right thing when it’s difficult. Keep be...

Our Unlimited Potential!

Image
Our Unlimited Potential Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:24 “But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” If we could only comprehend what the Scripture says about our relationship with Jesus Christ, then our faith potentially would be greatly strengthened. The power and the wisdom of God literally reside on the inside of us. If we believe this and meditate on it, who knows what the Holy Spirit may choose to reveal to us,  “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  (Colossians 2:3) In fact, from a human standpoint, they are unsearchable except by revelation from the Spirit of God.  “These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”  (1 Corinthians 2:10) “To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”  (Ephesians 3:8, ESV)  “But...

A Trouble Tree!

Image
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. Psalm 34:6 A Trouble Tree We all have to deal with stress and pressure, but you need to create a joyful atmosphere in your home. Don’t bring in negativity from the outside. Don’t bring in pressures from work or stress from school or the offense from what somebody said. Your home needs to be a retreat from all the negative things you have to deal with during the day. There is a man who has a tree in a pot next to his back door. He was walking in with a friend, and he stopped and touched the tree. His friend asked him what he was doing. He said, “That’s my trouble tree. I leave all my troubles on this plant. I don’t take any worry inside. I leave the problems, the stress, the disappointments, the offenses at the door.” Are you living stressed out, somber, uptight, on edge? If you bring in worry and stress and strife, that’s going to weigh you and your family down. Get a trouble tree and make the chan...
