Get in Agreement!

Image
When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” John 5:6, NIV Get in Agreement In John 5, Jesus asked a man who had been disabled for thirty-eight years if he wanted to get well. The answer seemed obvious, but rather than say yes, the man began explaining why it seemed impossible. In one sense, Jesus was saying, “I need your permission to help you. If you’re not in agreement with Me, if you’re giving Me reasons for why it can’t happen, I can’t turn this around.” You have to give God permission to bless you, permission to free you, permission to promote you. You have to get in agreement with Him. As long as you’re thinking of all the reasons why it’s not going to happen, talking about how impossible it looks, that’s going to keep you where you are. The conditions may not look favorable for it to ever change, but this is what faith is all about. You’re looking at it in the natural, but we serve ...

Be a Converterlator!

Image
Be a Converterlator Scripture: Luke 16:9 “ Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. ” (Luke 16:9) In Kingdom of God  one of the things we have emphasized is that we are engaged in leveraging the perishable into the imperishable. We are agents of change—transformers who are experiencing an earthly life now that will also echo into eternity. We have developed a “new word” with its various renditions to describe what we are doing: CONVERTERLATORS. We are CONVERTERLATORS, people who are converting the perishable into the imperishable. If you are a CONVERTERLATOR, you are an agent engaged in “CONVERTERLATING” for bringing about change. The Apostle Paul, who was a CONVERTERLATOR, is a great example for us to follow in using any and all means available for advancing the kingdom of God. Luke 16:9 is a CONVERTERLATOR verse. It is an example of God instructi...

Again and Again!

Image
The Eternal One showed his favor toward Hannah again, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters, and her son Samuel grew up in the presence of the Eternal One. 1 Samuel 2:21, VOICE Again and Again Hannah had been married for many years but remained barren. She came to a place of deep distress and cried out to God. In response to Hannah’s passionate prayers, the Lord gave her a baby boy named Samuel whom she dedicated to the service of the house of God. That could have been a wonderful end to the story, but God likes to exceed our expectations. She asked for one son, but look at God’s goodness. He said, in effect, “Hannah, you’re satisfied, but I’m not. I’m going to show you My favor again and again and bring you more children than you ever imagined.” What you’re believing for may not have happened yet. It may be taking a long time, it may be discouraging, but as with Hannah, God is faithful. He’s not only still going to bring it to pass—that would be good e...

Do Not Be A Consumerlator!

Image
Do Not Be a Consumerlator Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:10 “ Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus has gone to Dalmatia. ” (2 Timothy 4:10) Demas deserted Paul because loved the temporary perishing things of this life more than the eternal aspects of life promoted by the gospel. Being actively involved as a  CONVERTERLATOR  is one of the best protections against falling into the plight of Demas. This brings another new word to be aware of as we navigate our way through this world: CONSUMERLATOR. A CONSUMERLATOR is an agent or modality that is engaged in stealing, killing, and destroying our opportunities to CONVERTERLATE our perishable time, talents, and treasures into the imperishable values that will last for eternity. Demas was a CONSUMERLATOR because he was apparently unwilling to defer experiencing some temporary pleasures of this world in order to accumulate treasure in heaven....

Acts8:26-40!

Image
Introduction Acts 8:26–40: Philip encounters an Ethiopian official who is returning home from Jerusalem and reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. Philip explains the meaning of the passage he is reading (Isaiah 53:7–8) and tells him the Good News about Jesus. They come upon a body of water, and the Ethiopian asks Philip to baptize him. Today’s Key Verse: Acts 8:38 The official ordered the carriage to stop, and both Philip and the official went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. Read 26  An angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get ready and go south [ a ]  to the road that goes from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This road is not used nowadays.) [ b ]   27-28  So Philip got ready and went. Now an Ethiopian eunuch, who was an important official in charge of the treasury of the queen of Ethiopia, was on his way home. He had been to Jerusalem to worship God and was going back home in his carriage. As he rode along, he was reading from the book of the prophet...

The Battle: Converterlator vs Consumerlator!

Image
The Battle: Converterlator vs. Consumerlator Scripture: Matthew 10:16 “ There were two hundred leaders from Issachar. They knew what Israel should do, and they knew the right time to do it. ” (1 Chronicles 12:32) “ Listen, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. So be as clever as snakes and as innocent as doves. ” (Matthew 10:16) We find ourselves in a world filled with all kinds of conflict. Conflict rages in both the seen and unseen realms. Secular forces battle spiritual forces all the time, but we often are only able to see the partial results of the battle. Individually, we all face battles of various kinds, including physical, material, spiritual, emotional, and mental stresses. Human casualties are abundant. But the Word of God gives us the hope, power, guidance, and instruments needed to fight these secular and spiritual battles. “ The Lord says, ‘I will make you wise and show you where to go. I will guide you and watch over you.’  ” (Psalm 32:8) God tells us ...

Act8:4-25!

Image
Acts 8:4–25: The scattered followers of Jesus begin to preach the Good News outside of Jerusalem. Philip goes to Samaria and preaches to the people there. Peter and John also arrive in Samaria, and the Samaritans receive the Holy Spirit when Peter and John place their hands on them. Simon, a magician, offers Peter and John money to obtain the same power that Peter and John possess, and he is rebuked by Peter. Today’s Key Verse: Acts 8:12 When they believed Philip’s message about the good news of the Kingdom of God and about Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Read 4  The believers who were scattered went everywhere, preaching the message.  5  Philip went to the principal city [ a ]  in Samaria and preached the Messiah to the people there.  6  The crowds paid close attention to what Philip said, as they listened to him and saw the miracles that he performed.  7  Evil spirits came out from many people with a loud cry, and ma...

The Compass of Life!

Image
The Compass of Life Scripture: Proverbs 28:26 and Judges 21:25 “ He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered. ” (Proverbs 28:26) “ In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes. ” (Judges 21:25) Our point of reference is critical in becoming a  CONVERTERLATOR . The above verses summarize what is wrong in our world: People refuse to acknowledge God and instead trust in their own hearts. To do so is to make oneself a fool. People do whatever they think is right in their own eyes. They think that no one, including God, is going to tell them what to do. We see the evidence of this foolishness on the evening news. Many Christians drift away from their mission. They fail to do what the Psalmist did:  “ I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. ” (Psalm 16:8) Many have fallen into the trap of the  CONSUMERLATOR  and follow the world and i...

Keep Praising!

Image
He never doubted that God would keep his promise, and he never stopped believing. He grew stronger in his faith and gave praise to God. Romans 4:20–21 Keep Praising When Abraham was seventy-five years old, God promised him a son. Isaac, the promised child, was born twenty-five years later. How did he wait during those twenty-five years? Was he complaining, “God, when is it going to happen? I don’t understand it”? No, he kept giving God praise and saying, “Lord, I know my son is on the way. Thank You for my baby. Thank You that You are faithful to Your promises.” He kept believing and believing, and finally the baby came. As with Abraham, you may have believed God’s promise but nothing’s changing, no doors have opened. But you’re constantly thanking God, living with an attitude of faith and expectancy. You may not realize it, but every time you thank God, you are close to seeing your promise. All of heaven comes to attention when you praise God. The breakthrough is about to happen...

Going , Going and Gone!

Image
Going, Going, Gone! Scripture: Mark 13:31 “ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. ” (Mark 13:31) This is an incredible statement! Everything is ultimately going to pass away. Our time, talents, and treasures will expire when we do. They will do us no good in eternity. We must use them while we are on this side of eternity. We are like the shopper who has won a contest and is allowed to buy as many groceries as she can within a short period of time. When the time expires, the shopping spree ends. However, according to the Bible, we know that the Word of God will never pass away and that the soul of each person is going to exist forever in either heaven or hell. The soul going to heaven will spend eternity based on how his time, talents, and treasures were spent on earth. This is why Kingdom of God is concerned with the brevity of life. The Bible comments extensively on life and how short it is. “ He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breez...

Divine Connection!

Image
Then Boaz asked his foreman, “Who is that young woman over there? Who does she belong to?” Ruth 2:5 Divine Connections Ruth was a widowed Moabite who went into Boaz’s fields every morning and picked up the wheat that the harvesters missed. She and her mother-in-law, Naomi, were living off scraps, barely able to survive. It didn’t look as though there was or ever would be a blessing on Ruth’s life. But when God caused Ruth to be noticed by and find favor with Boaz, what followed was one blessing after another. She ended up falling in love with Boaz and they married. She went from working in the field to owning the field. When you have the blessing of God on your life, He will cause you to find favor with the right people. You don’t have to play up to people or try to manipulate someone or convince them to like you. God will cause you to stand out as Ruth did. He’ll bring divine connections, people who want to help you. If you could see where God is going to take you, the doors He’...
