Relationship:The Key Component to a Fruitful Life!

Image
Relationship: The Key Component to a Fruitful Life Scripture: Romans 6:11 “ So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. ” (Romans 6:11) This is an incredible statement to be making to the believer in Jesus Christ. By his sacrifice Jesus Christ has made us dead to the power of sin. We see this reality take place in our life when, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we put to death the misdeeds of the body. Sure, the old nature lurks around, always trying to re-assert itself (which it does, if the Spirit is not in control of us). We are God’s offspring and are to be responsive to his working in us. We are talking about  relationship  here. Our task is to make sure we do nothing to short-circuit the power of God working in our life. Paul reaffirms the relationship concept, writing, “ So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was...

No More Forever!

Image
Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.” Exodus 14:13 No More Forever After Pharaoh finally let the two million Israelite slaves leave for the Promised Land, he soon changed his mind and came chasing after them. The Israelites reached a dead end at the Red Sea, but just because you run out of options doesn’t mean God has run out of options. God parted the water and the Israelites went through on dry ground. When the enemy came chasing after them, they were all drowned. The Israelites saw those enemies no more. You may have situations that look as though they’ll never change. God is saying to you what He said to them. You’re about to see the depression no more. You’re about to see that struggle in your finances no more. God is about to release you into abundance. You might as well have a going-away party for the sic...

By His Stripes!

Image
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 By His Stripes Imagine Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father and hearing us pray, “Lord, if it’s Your will, You can heal me.” He says to the Father, “So after I took all those stripes, endured all that pain for them, to take their sickness, now they’re wondering if it’s My will?” That doesn’t honor God. After the price He paid, the way to honor God is to have the attitude: “Lord, I know You want to heal me.” We see all through the Scripture that healing is His will. One of the best things we can do is to remind God of what He says. If you want to pray with confidence, bring His stated will to Him. Pray what He promises. “God, You say You will restore health to me. You say You took my infirmities, carried my sickness, and by Your stripes I have been healed. You say You wish above all things that I prosper a...

Glory Belongs to God!

Image
Glory Belongs to God Scripture: Psalm 44:3 “ For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them. ” (Psalm 44:3) From a human perspective it is difficult for us to understand that God is the source of all life. Why? Because the world elevates many self-made individuals. Many of these people bask in the glory that is given to them by the world. The verse in Psalms shows believers that we are not self-sufficient people who can claim any of our successes as being of our own making without help from above. When the Israelites took possession of the Promised Land, the Lord made it perfectly clear that it did not come by their own doing but only through Him. The possession of the land was brought about by the right hand of the Lord, his arm, and the light of his countenance. He favored them! Therefore, all glory should go only to God. This prin...

The Promise Keeper!

Image
“Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.” 2 Samuel 7:16 The Promise Keeper Do you ever wonder how faithful God is to keep His promises to you? In today’s Scripture, God promised David that one of his descendants would always be on the throne of Israel. Over three hundred years later, one of David’s relatives, King Hezekiah, and his throne were in great danger. An overwhelming army had surrounded Jerusalem, and there was no way out. But at the last minute, God sent an angel who destroyed 185,000 enemy troops, and the people were saved. God explained to Hezekiah why He did it. He said, “David’s been in the grave for three hundred years, but I made that promise to him about his throne. I always keep My promises.” Maybe you’re standing on a promise and it hasn’t come to pass yet. Don’t worry. If God will go to such great lengths to keep His promises to a man who’s dead, how much more will He keep His promise to you. Stay in ...

Fix Your Eyes on Christ!

Image
Fix Your Eyes on Christ Scripture: Hebrews 12:2 “ Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ” (Hebrews 12:2) Most of us have issues to face while we are living in this world. Problems, challenges, and changing circumstances just go with the territory. One of the most difficult lessons to learn for us as believers is to fix our eyes on Jesus Christ instead of only focusing on the problems facing us. Constantly fixing our eyes on problems is debilitating. It leads to depression. In fact, we can make idols of our problems if that is all we think about. Jesus did not focus on the cross, its shame, or the humiliation from the soldiers and crowd. He focused on the joy, the forgiveness, and the eternal reward that would come from what he was doing. We have the promise, “ I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with...

Losing Sleep?

Image
And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Exodus 3:14 Losing Sleep? Are you worrying about something, losing sleep over a situation you can’t control? Who or what can stop our God? Is that trouble at work a problem for Him? Is that sickness stronger than Him? Are those people more powerful than Him? God created and controls the universe. When Moses asked God His name, He said, “My name is I AM.” He was saying, “I am everything you need. I am protection. I am strength. I am healing. I am provision. I am deliverance. I am wisdom. I am favor.” Nothing can stand against our God. When He speaks, worlds come into existence. You are connected to the most powerful force in the universe. He’s working out His purpose for your life. Quit worrying. Quit focusing on how big your problems are, thinking they’re never going to change. Start focusing on how big your God is. The Most High God is maneuvering thing...

Expressing Gratitude and Praise!

Image
Expressing Gratitude and Praise Scripture: Psalm 50:23 “ Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; and to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”  (Psalm 50:23) Do you like it when people express gratitude to you and perhaps even praise you for something you have done? It strengthens your relationship with that person. God loves for us to express our gratitude and praise to him. To praise God and express our gratitude to him embellishes our relationship with him. And our relationship with him is all that matters. If we conduct ourselves in the right manner, we place ourselves in the right position where we can experience the salvation of God, subject to his timing. Throughout all of the areas of our lives, we can work at expressing gratitude to God and praising him for allowing us to live in the beauties of his creation. Even when things may not be going our way, there is usually something we can express gratitude for in every day. “ I will praise the ...

A Day To Honor!

Image
Romans 13:7 Give to everyone what you owe them...if honor, then honor. Romans 13:7, NIV A Day to Honor All throughout the Scripture, we see that God blesses an attitude of honor. In Exodus, it says that when we honor our parents, we are promised long life. In Proverbs, it says that when we pursue righteousness, we will find life, prosperity, and honor. To show honor simply means that you give respect and recognition to others with your attitude, actions, and words. As we humble ourselves and give honor, we will reap a harvest of honor in our lives in return. Today, as we join United of America recognize Memorial Day as a time when they honor all the brave men and women who have given their lives in service for this country. As we join to remember them, let’s honor the gift of freedom they have given us by saying thank you with our actions and choosing to love and honor others. Let’s also honor all those who are serving in our armed forces and their families and sacrificing so much toda...

Saved to So Good Works!

Image
Saved to Do Good Works Scripture: Titus 2:14, “ Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. ” (Titus 2:14) Among other things, we have been saved to do good works. Let’s be clear about this: good works do not save us, and we are not saved by the good works we do. “ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ” (Titus 3:5–7) The Lord Jesus Christ himself has done the work of salvation for us. We are justified or made acceptable to God by receiving the gift of salvation that he has provided through Christ. We now trust in him alone for our salvation. However, we are saved to do the good works he has app...

1 Kings 5:1-18!

Image
Introduction 1 Kings 5:1–18: With the help of King Hiram of Tyre, Solomon prepares to build the Temple. The two kings make a treaty, and their workers together begin initial construction of the Temple. Today’s Key Verse: 1 Kings 5:7b [King Hiram of Tyre said:] “Praise the LORD today for giving David such a wise son to succeed him as king of that great nation!” Read 5  King Hiram of Tyre had always been a friend of David's, and when he heard that Solomon had succeeded his father David as king, he sent ambassadors to him.  2  Solomon sent back this message to Hiram:  3  “You know that because of the constant wars my father David had to fight against the enemy countries all around him, he could not build a temple for the worship of the Lord his God until the Lord had given him victory over all his enemies.  4  But now the Lord my God has given me peace on all my borders. I have no enemies, and there is no danger of att...
